Right now, I'm happy that I got heating oil delivery set up, and so have my furnace operating. Heat is good. (I do also have electric heaters that can be used, so wasn't totally left in the cold, but using them gets to be rather expensive pretty quickly.)

Right now I am a bit disgusted with some people on this board who feel the need to blame the lack of meet and greets in English speaking countries on us middle aged men who are fans. I am sincerely tired of being blamed for the actions of others. It is a recorded fact that 90% of convicted molesters are straight married men. Not singles.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but let's please not point our fingers at straight married men, either. Criminals are criminals--no need to examine any other statistics.

Don't be too dispirited my friend. We are only speculating on why there are no meet & greets - that doesn't mean that we agree with the reasons behind our theories.

Whatever the truth actually is, we can't deny that the parents of Libera are concerned with safety of the boys and where they perceive that danger to come from.

You are right that the overwhelming majority of attacks on children come from family members or trusted family friends. Fact. But we can't escape the way that society looks at things like this. Other people have mentioned that some boys have had stalkers - I have no idea about that. But we are left with two choices - pretend that security (and who is perceived to be a threat) is not an issue or to discuss it openly.

Discussing it doesn't automatically place us single middle aged men on the weirdo list (at least it better not do :?).

I really hope that you gentlemen don't think you have to defend yourselves against anyone in this forum. We love you guys. ♥

Right now, I'm getting ready to go see "The Road" in theaters. I just read the book, and it was quite an emotional journey! Here's hoping the film does it justice, and that I don't cry off all my mascara.

From all that's fair, from all that's foul,
Peals out a cheerful song.'

Stellar advice! Luckily I got the release date wrong and "The Road" isn't out for another month. That gives me thirty days to procure some makeup that won't melt off of me in public! Thanks, Ann.

Ah, okay! I'm sure you'll do a fine job, but it's really awkward trying to talk yourself up, isn't it? Best of luck to you!

Right now, I am just home from the last re-enactment camping trip of this season. Cedar Creek near Middletown, Virginia. Was very cold and very wet but lots of fun. As far as the wet and cold goes, if the soldiers who we are honoring as re-enactors could do it, and without fancy sleeping bags and propane heaters, we, as 21st Century Civil War re-enactors, can handle it as well.
