Re: Luca Brugnoli
So, Luca has released his second independent album recently. It's called "Through My Eyes" and it is a collection of songs, which were recorded mainly last summer. I've had my copy for over a week now and I'd like to share some thoughts about the new album.
The album was produced by Dominic Ferris who can also be heard playing the piano in most of the pieces. Luca has worked with Dominic Ferris for about a year now. I was lucky to see both of them live during a concert in Cuckfield in June 2023 and I can tell how well they seem to understand each other and how well they cooperate when making music together. Having the right mentor and teacher is of immeasurable importance for a young musician and I'm convinced, that Luca is very lucky having apparently found the right person in Dominic Ferris in this regard.
"Through My Eyes" is pretty different from the first album called "Rise Up". It contains 14 tracks in between which one looks in vain for classical music. However, I think the selection of music corresponds pretty much to the areas, in which Luca feels best. It's "Through Luca's Eyes" after all, isn't it? So, we will find some pieces originating from famous musicals, some film themes and well known pop classics. There are also two original pieces on the album, which were written by Dominic Ferris and his parents (professional musicians as well) specially for Luca.
Luca has matured musically since "Rise Up" a lot. He recorded the songs a few months ago, when he was in the absolute peak period of his treble voice. Capable of reaching the highest notes perfectly and at the same time being able to go pretty much low in the musical scale and producing very warm, gentle sounds down there. I'm impressed by his ability to express a wide range of emotions with his voice. Luca can be calm and gentle, he can be loud and furious; his slight, mysterious vibrato never fails to give me goosebumps. All of those features can be found on the new album promising a very enjoyable experience.
I won't write a track-by-track review of each song, but I will concentrate on my highlights. Actually, I love (almost) the whole album, nevertheless my highlights are the both original songs "I Am" and "My Mama", as well as "The Prayer" and "Hushabye Mountain". BTW, I'd love to see a music video for "The Prayer" featuring Luca duetting with himself. Yes, he sings both parts in that song: the Italian one and the English one and this is awesome. The only one track, which I don't like too much is "Bring Me To Life". This is because that song is definitely too pop-ish with too much percussion and too much pop orchestration for me.

Re: Luca Brugnoli
I got my album 2 days ago. I have to say, at first I thought I would not like it as much as the first one, because the setlist was more pop, BUT Oh my God. His voice is so perfect, and I feel like the quality of the recording sound is better, the orchestration too, and every song is so personal you just know Luca selected it himself and for good reason. It is amazingly good, and I don't regret spending money on it. Also, what a fantastic maturing voice : I am pretty sure his voice is gonna sound perfect even in the lower parts. The alto voice he got was so precious already. Can't wait to hear his "new" voice. Please let him stay with Libera and treat us to some surprise solo on Christmas concerts, like the older boys sometimes perform. Also I would LOVE him to get opportunities for solos as a big boy, like MItchel did, and even Joshua recorded some ? I know he stated he would let the new trebles shine, but just one song, please ? Also, keep it going with your carreer Luca, you are doing so well...
Like you Andmar I really enjoy "My Mama" and "I am", they are special. But I also enjoy "The Prayer" a lot, and "Parla Piu piano" I seem to be humming all day (pretty anoying actually). I REALLY like "Bring me to life" (but it was a tube during my teen years) and "Take on Me", which were not songs I was eager to hear Luca perform, but wow he nails it. Never heard "Hushabye Mountain" before, but it is a nice one.

The "My Mama" song was a surprise to me because the sample that was featured on his social media recently made me think it would be a light, pleasant song. It turned out to be quite an emotionally powerful song and Luca did a great job expressing that.

Re: Luca Brugnoli
Also a surprise is the comparative popularity of "I am" and "Never Enough" on YouTube.

"Let it Be" and "Bring Me To Life" are my favourites, I could (and have) listened to those again and again...
Feels like a much more cohesive and heartfelt album, and Luca's vocals are fantastic.

It was quite a shock not to see him at the concert. Considering what a large part of the repertoire he contributed significantly to, for so many years. I know these things are inevitable, but it was still a bit of a surprise!!
Re: Luca Brugnoli
It looks like he’s been doing some school and music exams from his recent fb post. He’s still recording with Dominic Ferris so his voice must still be in good shape. I also overheard at Ely that his Grandfather is not very well so fingers crossed all is ok there. I doubt whether he’s just left,I don’t think the family would do that after all the commitment they have given Libera for so long. Must be a good reason for his absence.
