Can't beat a bit of Carmen. :)

Takes me back to my days in a youth orchestra. Sadly, my lack of talent, and aversion to being on stage, hindered any further progression. :P

A previous tour in Australia was scheduled in October 2020, but it went cancelled due to the Covid 19 travel restrictions at that time.

Good thing for the Aussies that a new tour there was possible to organize :)

Wow, that so awesome! I wish I could go too! It's already over 30 years since I went to Australia.

The travel some of these boys do is crazy...

I'm not sure if this was ever posted, but the choir made a small contribution to a Steven Wilson song that I really like called "Routine". A soloist sings in two different places early in the song. At the end of it the choir does some background vocals. Warning: It's a very sad song.

There are a few Steven Wilson fans at this forum. I don't think that album has been bettered to be honest and he's gone in a slightly different direction since. There was a touch of previous discussion about this at LDF as well. But thank you for bringing this up! Amazing the cross-pollination that happens between the rock world and the choir world. :D

The CVMS academic year comes to an end, and another exceptional year of music making. Malakai is indeed remarkable. His "Eternal Source of Light Divine" at the Handel concert was just exquisite. I made it to eight events, including my first time visiting the school in nearly 7 years for the ballad operas. (the last before that was July 2017 for a joint concert with a Canadian choir)

It's difficult really to pick a highlight, because as usual, each event offered something a little bit different, but while still somehow managing to offer something special! Long may Scott's reign continue. :D

Hard not to wonder if this is the last time we’ll hear Malakai singing in the CVSC as a treble. He’s 15 now and next term he enters his 5th and final year of compulsory secondary school education (along with FM and DW). I don’t think when he was rushed in to the studio last year to cut his debut album “Golden” that anyone thought he’d still be singing first treble a year later.😳

Those poor kids have it tough, their Nightwish - The Day Of... lyrics:

"We are the ill-starred kids of your junkyard
The innocent islands unscarred
The moment of our nadir
So many times passed the due date"

"It`s a long road to a dreamworld
All the pain and suffering to feel for
It`s there, but yours is an empty sermon"

:o :o

I will reiterate what I've said before I think SP is an amazing director for letting them be involved in projects like this. The astounding range of music...

Sometimes life moves in happy cycles…

This can only be a very positive thing, especially for certain members of this SC. So proud of Mr A M-B.😊
