Re: New 2024 Album
Genuine question here. Is there any point me doing the above properly? I mean that was a 15 min job, and I clearly stole the figures from a previous album, so I'd want to redraw them. But does Mrs Kielty have that all sown up, or do you think there is a vague chance of a look in for someone else? I mean, I'd do it for free, if my art actually got used as a cover...
Re: New 2024 Album
My initial instinct is to encourage you to create the artwork because I think it would be great for you to do so. But my next, and contradictory, instinct would be to advise you to save your time and energy because we know that they like to stick to their own people for such things; understandably so. I wouldn't be surprised if they already had the album cover either designed or being designed as we speak.Citlec wrote: ↑5 months agoGenuine question here. So unless you're doing it solely for the fun/thrill of making it, I would advise against it; as aside from making it and sharing it here it's not likely to go beyond that.

Re: New 2024 Album
Are we sure it's not going to be a Christmas album? This is the longest they've gone without one since 2011.

Everything is possible but the three new songs known so far don't sound particularly Christmassy. ('Sea Bird,' 'The Lark's Last Song,' 'One Small Voice')

Re: New 2024 Album
I know. What I meant was that it's been 5 years, whereas they were doing one every 2 to 3 years before.
But it would also make sense to have a regular album to release around the time of their Japan tour.

Re: New 2024 Album
The Japanese Libera fan club site has some information regarding the upcoming album. It seems that the title of the album is "Dream". Anyways, I'm happy to see them doing some arrangement of "Dido's Lament". We'll also get to hear a composition by Liam Connery for the first time.

Re: New 2024 Album
Thank you for the information and the links, fugalharmony and Luckdragon!
I'm extremely happy to see Ben Crawley among the composers and of course also Liam Connery and, once more, Josh Madine. And Raoul Neumann.
As they explicitly mark Twilight as a remake, what do you think will Going Home be, the old version drawn to the new album or a new recording?
And the Purcell will be most interesting.

Re: Dream (new album 2024)
I've changed the thread title to reflect this new information!
Tracklist as per Libera Records (new songs highlighted):
And that's a LOT of new songs at 10 so this is REALLY great. I'm not counting "Always There" as new as it was on one of the Angel Voices albums (assuming it's the same song). And of those 10 only 3 have actually been performed in concert, so we have MUCH to look forward to at release. Some of the new arranged songs like the John Lennon and Ryuichi Sakamoto pieces are more crossover types, while the Purcell I'm very curious about as it's originally more operatic. I'm further impressed by the number of original works (as opposed to arrangements) but those we can't speculate about whatsoever at this time.
This could be an amazing album we've got coming!
Looks like our Yorkie nailed this one with one of his options!Yorkie wrote: ↑5 months ago So what will the next album be called? Here is a starter list for you but feel free to suggest some of your own and we can add them in:
Single word titles:
Ascent, Celestial, Divine, Dream(s)/Dreaming, Dusk, Echoes, Enchanted/Enchantment/Enchanting, Ethereal, Fantasy, Gloria, Grace, Harmony, Imagine, Innocence, Inspire/Inspiring, Light, Paradise, Pure, Radiance, Reflection(s), Reverie, Sacred, Salvation, Sanctuary, Sanctus, Secret, Serenity, Sing, Tranquille/Tranquillity, Twilight, Voice(s)
I could put together some multiple-word titles but given that the only albus from Libera to contain two words or more in their titles are either Live recordings or Christmas albums I think it unlikely they will go with that.
Tracklist as per Libera Records (new songs highlighted):
- The Lark's Last Song (Liszt: Liebestraum) (Composer: Liszt, Lyrics and Arrangement: Joshua Madine)
- One Small Voice (Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 8 "Pathétique", 2nd Movement) (Composer: Beethoven, Lyrics and Arrangement: Sam Coates)
- Going Home (Dvorak: Symphony No. 9, 2nd Movement) (Composer: Dvorak, Lyrics: David Downs)
- Dido's Lament (Composer: Henry Purcell, Lyrics: Nahum Tate)
- Sea Bird (Lyrics and Composition: Katie Hill & Chris Hill)
- Lullay (Lyrics and Composition: Ben Crowley)
- Dream You Of (Lyrics and Composition: Joshua Madine)
- Always There (Composer: Takatsugu Muramatsu, Lyrics: Robert Prizeman)
- Veni Sancte (music and lyrics: Raoul Newman)

- Resurrectio (music and lyrics: Liam Connelly)
- Happy Christmas (War Is Over) (lyrics and music: John Lennon and Yoko Ono)

Re: Dream (new album 2024)
There is an additional song listed on some sites like Tower Records.
I redo the list of the 14 songs known so far
In blue are the 12 new songs.
'Always There' cannot be the same song from the Angel Voices era as the composer is not the same.

Re: Dream (new album 2024)
If their rendition of Dido's Lament is led by a soloist, I would have a hard time imagining anyone other than Freddie M. on the solo. If that's the case, then they probably recorded it in 2023.
Re: Dream (new album 2024)
Surely 'Dream you of' is a translation issue and the actual title will be 'Dream of you'?

'Rhapsody in Blue' plays from 15 to 17 minutes.
We can guess that 'Music was born' is a part of it.
