Re: Dream (new album 2024)
Here are my guesses. I agree that Joseph sounds different on this album compared to the last, a lot breathier and darker. I think this is due to the production and recording technique, rather than Joseph’s voice changing a lot.
Seabird: Luca
The Lark’s Last Song: Joseph
Always There: Morgan… I actually really like this one and am excited to hear it as it may be the last song of Robert’s that the choir will sing
Twilight: Sounds exactly like Morgan’s concert rendition
Once: A duet with Morgan and someone else, maybe Joseph?
Dido: Joseph
Resurrectio: Very confident this is Luca, followed by Morgan, then Luca and Nathan on a duet possibly.
Going Home: Fairly certain this is Nathan. There is another voice that comes in, I think it may be Oscar or Jerome. The voice reminds me of a young Freddie Ingles, and it’s definitely not an established voice I am familiar with.
Lullay: Confident that it is Ben in the beginning and Morgan later
Happy Christmas: Ben for sure as the higher voice, but the starting voice sounds like it could be Michel or Frederick… not sure on this one.

Luca and Morgan great guesses and I agree but no idea on that final voice.
Yes Morgan on Lullay as the second voice you can hear how his voice matured during the recording of this album.

Seabird: Luca - yup pretty sure
The Lark’s Last Song: Joseph - no doubt
Always There: Morgan… I actually really like this one and am excited to hear it as it may be the last song of Robert’s that the choir will sing - Pretty sure
Twilight: Sounds exactly like Morgan’s concert rendition - same
Once: A duet with Morgan and someone else, maybe Joseph? - Not sure about Joseph, could be Thomas M ? Oscar ? Ben H ? Feels like I should know the voice... it's the song that is going to prevent me from sleeping until I get the truth for sure
Dido: Joseph - no debate
Resurrectio: Very confident this is Luca, followed by Morgan, then Luca and Nathan on a duet possibly. - the exact same thought occured to me, Nathan and Luca !
Going Home: Fairly certain this is Nathan. There is another voice that comes in, I think it may be Oscar or Jerome. The voice reminds me of a young Freddie Ingles, and it’s definitely not an established voice I am familiar with. - I think it is Nathan as well, but could be Freddie H second choice. Unsure about the young voice. Could be Morgan, it's a very short extract.
Lullay: Confident that it is Ben in the beginning and Morgan later - Yes I thought of Ben as well, and Morgan too, unless there is an other boy with a similar voice but also great control over it... I think it's going to be a masterpiece !
Happy Christmas: Ben for sure as the higher voice, but the starting voice sounds like it could be Michel or Frederick… not sure on this one. - agreed about Ben. Not sure about the low voice but I would stick with Mitchel for the round warm sound...
This sums up everything I think, having now heard the new extracts Thank you for doing the work I added my comment in color. This would be my last bet about solo parts.
I also agree with the comment on Joseph's voice, though I think it's both his voice maturing and the recording technique.

Okay, you were at the summer concerts so I'm sure it's not as big of a difference to you. I'm just surprised nobody mentioned it in their reviews. I understand that Sam loves his sound tools so we can take that into account to some degree, although we may never know why he made Morgan sound like a younger child with a lisp in Always There.

Joseph's voice has matured since early 2023, which was especially apparent during the summer 2024 UK tour. There's a darker colour to his voice now, probably as a result of a change in vocal articulation or singing technique.Luckdragon wrote: ↑2 months ago I may be getting old and deaf, but... I'm not really hearing Joseph on these tracks. I played the opening to Kizuna, then went through the tracks and just kept thinking nope, nope, nope. Not Joseph.
The fact that they went a different direction with Seabird for the album made me wonder if, just as this album is a tribute to former choristers, it could also be a final spotlight for the veteran trebles: Cameron, Frederick H, Lewis, Luca, Morgan, Nathan, and Thomas.
We might just be missing some of them because we're not as familiar with their voices. I wouldn't mind a few surprises if that's the case.

I'd still stick with Freddie H for Happy Christmas, entirely based on the fact that Mitchel's voice has dropped quite significantly since last year. That said, if this song was recorded last year, then yes, Mitchel's a good guess
Re: Dream (new album 2024)
I have a theory but no idea if it could be true. Maybe the song was recorded last year when Morgan and the other boys went to Japan for the "Forever" album promo and Hibiya Festival. It matches Morgan's voice at that time and they might have recorded it with Muramatsu. Also from this summer concerts, I feel like Morgan is able to give many different textures to his voice. From Kizuna to Twilight to Angele Dei... it sounds different.Luckdragon wrote: ↑2 months agoOkay, you were at the summer concerts so I'm sure it's not as big of a difference to you. Same for Joseph, I feel like his voice on Sea Bird (no extract provided, sadly) was different from The Lark's Last Song, a bit more operatic. Dido's Lament is in the same operatic style. I actually like Luca's extract on Sea Bird but to me the song will always be connected to Joseph's light touch and first live performance... I hope he gets recorded too.

Re: Dream (new album 2024)
That actually sounds quite plausible. I really like the solo and have been listening to it quite a lot. The chorus, well... it's like slipping into your comfy old shoes. I really don't mind it.Padmachou wrote: ↑1 month agoI have a theory but no idea if it could be true. I think we're on the right track now that Nathan's parts have (hopefully) been identified.

Re: Dream (new album 2024)
I agree that Joseph's voice has matured and he can switch his tone for different songs, but.... the concert performances he did sounded wonderfully clear, with a shine and richness to his tone, similar to his recordings on the last album. For some reason, the new album recordings make him sound a bit breathier and thinner in tone, even compared to his recent summer performances. I think this is due to production and recording technique.Padmachou wrote: ↑1 month ago

In regards to Seabird, quite a few of us originally assumed that Joseph's parents had written it with his voice in mind. Joseph did an incredible job interpreting the emotional nuance, with a beautiful lightness, as Padma mentioned. Now, having listened to the track, I actually think it suits Luca's voice even better than Joseph, and may have been written for him in mind as his last "swan song".
It is currently my favorite track, and I think may end up being my standout track by Luca for the choir. I wish we could have heard Luca perform it live this year. I do hope Joseph gets more chances to perform it in the future. And, who knows, maybe Joseph does sing the last verse on the album, with Luca "handing the baton" to a younger soloist.

Re: Dream (new album 2024)
People who have better musical ears than I do - is the Morgan part definitely a solo? I agree it sounds a lot like Morgan but I thought I could here a few voices singing softly in unison and I originally took it for a choir part or at least not a solo.gingerthedog1 wrote: ↑2 months ago

Agree that the first voice is quite probably Luca, although it's lower there's something about the tone and expression that reminds me a lot of some of his other solos.

The Amazon Italia album page has this two interesting photos. Which sacred song do you think deserved a video? Could Caleb be one of the misterious young soloists???

It's not just the Italian Amazon; there are a bunch of new marketing photos on various national Amazon sites: UK, FR, DE, CA...Lux Aeterna wrote: ↑1 month ago The Amazon Italia album page has this two interesting photos.
One is the back of the Western digipack.
There is for sure some video shooting.
It is common for libera to release one or two single and videos before a new album is released, so let's wait a couple of days

Maybe, but the presence of a microphone in a photo doesn't necessarily mean much.Lux Aeterna wrote: ↑1 month agoCould Caleb be one of the misterious young soloists???
In one of the recording sessions, you can spot at least six microphones scattered around.
There’s bound to be some people behind each of them.
