Since the Pathetique was already one of my favorite Beethoven compositions, I really enjoyed the video and the lovely singing. The vocal arrangement was nicely layered from a solo , to soothing choir, to Joseph's solo interlude, and the build-up of the final passage. Just beautiful!!! The higher and then lower descants throughout was a really , nice touch. Can't wait for the rest of the album now!!!
I liked the simple church as it matched the theme better than filming in a huge cathedral and to be in a simple countryside was a nice setting.
As for the lyrics, I feel that this is a song for the world today. Not just in the US but throughout the world, there's been many voices of division and distrust for those "who don't look like us". We all have our one small voice to speak up against hate and bigotry. For example,
Libera - One Small Voice (from Beethoven's 'Pathétique' Sonata No. 8 Mov. II Adagio Cantabile)

Well said. I wouldn't have put it in such blatantly political terms, but the voices of hatred and intolerance are loud and well-funded, fueled by legions of so-called "Christians".bruinrules wrote: ↑1 month ago Since the Pathetique was already one of my favorite Beethoven compositions, I really enjoyed the video and the lovely singing. It's important for each of us who really believe in compassion and forgiveness to add our small voice to the chorus so that we can try to make it a better world.

I agree, and moving forward lets please keep all political and religious discussions off this forum unless they somehow involve Libera directly. So if the UK government starts offering money to choirs like Libera for training choristers that would be an acceptable political discussion for LDF members , but until then let's just not go there.Luckdragon wrote: ↑1 month ago

There's a reason that discussing religion and politics is often considered distasteful.....and Libera fans have nothing if not good taste.
(any questions or concerns about my edit above should be directed to PM and I'll be glad to explain and clarify)

Regarding the videoo I also meant to say what a great job Julian did acting/presentationwise here. He has quite a bit in the way of moving and actions to do while singing (or at least pretending to sing but I wonder if they're encouraged to actually sing even with no sound recording because that would probably look more natural than singing). And he does it simply and unfussily, maybe looking slightly self-conscious but that just adds to the charm. Great job Julian!

It’s taken me a while…well quite a long while actually, but I’ve finally fallen in love with Joseph’s voice.
I’m astonished at the growth and improvement in his voice even since Christmas last year. I really understand now why he was being primed to step into Luca’s shoes as the number one treble. I just hope he keeps his treble voice for at least another two years, which would take him up to just about 14.
We’ll have to wait and see if Ben has a similar growth, but we know from the many brothers that have graced Libera that there’s no guarantee that because one of them is a stand out talent, that the other(s) will be.
Fortunately Ben has already shown that he has what it takes to be a quality soloist, as has Caleb. So if Joseph’s voice does break sooner than we’d like, we have at least two who can take over.
Just remains to be seen/heard who out of the new boys from the summer will be stand-outs.

Both One Small Voice and The Lark's Last Song were shot in the same environement, and I think it works better for One Small Voice. It's a really beautiful landscape.
I get that they tried to get a different light for "The Lark's Last Song", but it looks too much the same for me.
I read some other people were bothered they shot in the same place. Well, they got different stories to tell at least. And we got many video songs for this album ! Still one to come
