I'd really wanna speak Cebuano because when I go back for a visit, my cousins try their utmost best to converse in English and sometimes I can't comprehend what they're trying to say. Not to mention my parents won't allow me to talk when I'm in public because I can only speak English and I've the Singaporean accent even though I try to sound more Cebuano-ish. The idea of people knowing you're not local there's perilous. Haha, I suppose you already know that.
I used to have a Cebuana roommate so I know their 'preconditions'. I've never really tried combining a Cebuano accent with Singaporean. Whenever I go home to Davao, my 'almost-there' Singaporean accent disappears naturally. :P

Oh wow. My male good friend's from Davao too. He doesn't have the Filipino accent. He looks like a Malay while I look like a Chinese. I don't combine either. It just sounds as though I combined. When I converse with friends, my accent sounds a lot like that of a Singaporean, just that my "r" sounds more defined. But not too clear that it sounds like how Filipinos talk. The thing about me is I can switch accents. A lot of my friends are pretty awed by this. Whenever I'm talking to them and my parents call, I'd immediately switch accents and sound more Cebuano-ish. Once I put down the phone, my Singaporean accent comes back. Not too much though. Just enough to realise that my accent did change. Like erm.. it sounds like Singaporean-ish, but not exactly. It also sounds Cebuano-ish, but not exactly. Something like that. It's just a natural thing. Ask me to do it on purpose and I can't.

Does your accent lean more on the Singaporean or Filipino one?

I'm not really sure. haha. It changes pretty often. It can get pretty Singaporean sometimes when I talk to my classmates or when I talk to locals but not as hard as the real Singaporean one. But when I talk to people who are not from East/Southeast Asia, I adapt an American one (although now I know from this board that there's no typical one). I also don't do it in purpose. I think I just instinctively switch to talking in a way that will make the other person understand me better.haha.

When I go home and try to show others what a Singaporean accent is, I can only do the cans and lahs. No more than that. It just disappears. Probably back there, I lean more to the Filipino side. Actually, the only accent I can switch on and off at will is my Filipino accent.

Sometimes, I like trying out British or Aussie accents. :P

Sigh...I wish Libera would get it over with and announce all their concert locations. I really hope they come to Singapore.

What would be the occasion for the student that gets a week of holiday in Octorber?

Nothing really Ann, it's just the way the holidays work in the UK state education system.

We have three terms each year. The first runs from September to December, the second from January to Easter & the third from Easter until mid July.

Between July and September we get six weeks of 'summer' holidays, there is a two week break at christmas and a two week break at Easter. In the middle of each term there is a one week 'half term' holiday - so the boys will be touring in that 1 week October break.

Does that make sense?

I am guessing that some of the schools tho would give them permission to take some days off if needed be. Also lets not forget some of these boys go to State schools and some go to Private schools and so therefore straight away they have different holidays normally different by at least a week.

Also kids like Sam. Josh , Liam are now getting into the most important part of there education the final 2 years so some of them may not even be able to go on this tour. Will be interesting to see who goes this year.

Actually it is a much better system than British Columbia, which the grade school children has over 2 months off in the summer. I think that's just too long a break. One and two weeks here and there is good.

Hmm.. I think they are still finalizing the venues, it's already 29 August here, and I think they probably be announcing it in a few days time. At least for me, I'm quite excited, cos this is the very first time they are touring South East Asia! And it's so close, yet so far... I hope they will drop by Singapore as well.

But for a week of tour, they'll probably be able to have at most 3 concerts. A quick check on the schedule of Singapore's Esplanade, it seems like the place is quite fully booked for the last week of Oct. We'll see, and fingers crossed.

Ya me too. That's the nearest I'll ever be around them; 3 hours away by plane. I really hope they'd consider Singapore. They haven't been here and anyway, Singapore's not very far from Manila.

To be honest at that age i was the same, Fast forward 7 years and i adore Libera. And even tho im 22 and a girl all most of my friends think im odd listening to them. Thats why when i went to Arundel i dragged my dad along for the day as none of my friends was interested. Neither was my dad but im still his baby girl so he gave in. Lets be honest for people my age and younger its just not the in thing to listen to boy choirs.
