Thank you Harry and Victar for your tips.
I had not thought to look at Dublin, but you are right that return flights can be had for 200euro. The problem here is that the flights are not daily, so returning on the Sat 4th would mean an extra night than i had planned which means more money and kind of cancels out any saving i would have made on going the Cork-Jersey route. Getting to Dublin from where i am by car would also cost around 50euro in fuel or similar by train. BTW i also looked at British airways, but their stop on the way over means an overnighter in London and that is a lot of hassle.
It is not so much that i could not afford the trip but whether such a spend is justified in this case. Lets say i did the Dublin Jersey route, from 31 July to August 4th. Getting to and from airport 50euro, car parking 20euro, flight 200 euro, 4 nights B and B on island approx 200euro, allowing 40euro per day spending is 160euro, concert tickets 50 euro. That makes a grand total of 680euro for the trip, its quite a lot. And then we dont know who may or not be there in terms of the choir if some are away on holidays or at the olympics etc
I need to think it over some more. I mean if i dont go, i am hoping they will have an england show again in November.

It is expensive , after i booked and its worked out at nearly £300 i did question my sanity

but i enjoy watching them so i am sure i will have fun.
But if premium prices go any higher i will have to rethink doing all the concerts as its reached its max for me at £35 . I do not get how they can charge that when you can go and see some of the best music bands around for £35. I went to Nicki Minaj for £35 recently and they are not in the small ball park at all.
And its not like tickets are selling well either at the price. All the dedicated fans brought their within the first two days and very little moment since.

I suppose the fairest way of putting the question of justifying the costs of getting to the Channel Islands is that if you assume you are also having a holiday at the same time as attending a couple of Libera concerts, then it works out better
It is probably too expensive and too far to travel just for a concert.
I suppose this is why I have read about various fans all across Europe wanting Libera to engage in a proper European Tour which means that Libera then come to us instead of the other way around. But in the current economic climate, is that viable?
Quite how Libera plan to fill enough seats to make this Summer Tour pay for itself remains to be seen, sadly they are leaving everything to the last minute as usual. If only we could come up with some more ideas as to how to promote these concerts a bit better on their behalf?!
The £35 ticket price is still less than a lot of European concert prices.... the average these days across the continent is usually €50.

Yes it is expensive. I can fly Rotterdam-Guernsey only on Saturdays. So I need to stay the week, well, some holidays is always nice. Annyway, altogether I think it is going to cost me about 1500 euro

I read on Libera's main website that they are now connecting their Channel Island Tour 2012 with raising money for Headway, a brain injury charity.
What a pity that nothing is mentioned on that charity's websites and there is still virtually zero publicity anywhere yet for these concerts!
Libera are not going to sell these concerts out unless something is done pretty fast, in my honest opinion....

I understand that Jersey averages around 70,000 tourist visitors in the Month of August. Around 18,000 in the relevant week would be more than enough to fill both concerts.
This more or less "captive" group should probably be Libera's target audience - and the obvious place to find it (and distribute flyers, posters etc.)
would be the tourist offices, hotels, B&Bs, campgrounds etc.

Sounds like you are volunteering to deliver leaflets to me John!

Wouldn't be the first time, but I don't get there until the 31st which doesn't leave much time.
My recollection of family holidays (both as a child and as a parent) is that we were always looking for things to do in the evenings.

Well, as an adult I can think of a few diverting evening pursuits - mainly involving pubs
Perhaps (as you have now volunteered) you should draw up a list of potential 'targets' to hit with your posters/flyers so you don't waste any time on arrival
I don't arrive until the 31st either.....

I'm not getting there until after the Tour has commenced, so I can't help much with concert flyer distribution on Jersey, however Guernsey is a different matter. But that is what has to be done, several thousand flyers sent to every possible place for prominent display....

Might help get the word out - they claim 10,000 readership on the island so the magazine should alert locals to Libera's concerts. I notice that rows L&K (the £18 seats) have all been taken on both nights. Strange that seats closer to the front for the same price have been overlooked for these rows at the back. Might be a visiting party of some sorts.

I can't believe those seats rows K&L were bought by individual buyers, in additions being the same on both nights.
I assume it's more likely some seats reserved by agreement with the tourism office or with some local media or hotels, seats that may be offered or won or whatever.
