i really have no idea:
et laudate domino in laetitia
et cantate domino, gloria
seculo et seculorum, alleluia
exsultate domino omnis populi alleluia
jubilate domino omnis terra alleluia
angeli et archangeli
salvete et laudate
vini mis et salvis
et gaudicis
I agree. Now, I don't know Latin (although I've sung a bit in Latin), but it seems like you've got the lyrics, especially the "Angeli et archangeli" part. I've been listening to that bit over and over trying to catch the words, and managed to piece most of it together except I couldn't catch the "vini mis" part, and now that I look at your lyrics and listen at the same time, it seems to fit. Wow, great job.
Although I wonder when they sing the first line, it sounds more like "Exsultate domino e lætitia" to me, and "seculae et seculorum" to me.
et laudate Domino in laetitia
et cantate Domino gloria
saecula et saeculorum, Alleluia
I listened to it a little bit more, and I think it is "psallite" instead of "salvete". I don't know any Latin though, I'm just going on sound... That might not make any actual sense.

Seculae seculorum (forever and ever) should be correct syntax. It's just that Ben stretched out the last vowel so the word comes out as "seh-coo-lah-eh". (I am not going to question the pronunciation of some one that actually takes Latin. When I read Latin out loud, it sounds like Spanish.)

Ed was my first thought too and this is the song that, along withTime, I like the best on the album. What I don't get is how we have Lacry again (probably with Ben) but no Mysterium - The guys could have done a great vocal & video for mysterium, it would have been a real wow.
I'm frustrated with no Mysterium, too. I only heard Ed's version once and I don't have a copy now and I want one that will last long after Ed's voice changes. Sigh...like you guys, I was captivated by Ave Virgo from the first note that Ed sings. His voice is just oh so beautiful. There are times in Tom's Ave Maria where I feel like crying and in Ave Virgo, there are times when Ed's voice is just so beautiful it makes me want to cry.haha.

Ed's vocal tone is quite distinct, and while it sounds similar to Tom's, it is still different. I think Ed's voice has a little bit "deeper" tone to it than Tom's, like Tom's is a little thinner or lighter maybe, and Ed's tone sounds "rounder"--I don't know how to explain it any better; that is just what it sounds like to me.
Funny, because I actually distinguish them the opposite way. I'm probably wrong.haha. But for me, Ed's voice has always been more relaxed, a bit lighter than Tom. When Tom sings, I think he puts so much emotion into the song that it sounds heavier to me. That is why aside from the different voice, his Far Away is so different from Michael's. It's also the same when I compare Tom's rendition of Do Not Stand to that of Ben C. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is Ed's solos have always seemed more 'zen' like to me.hehe. That is probably because his voice fits those peaceful songs so much.
I think I'm actually with Yorkie on this one. One thing that I always admired about Ed was the "rounder" sound, in comparison to Tom Cully's.
Yes, Tom has a larger range, but Ed's mid-range is much more powerful, I think. He also has this spectacular tonal clarity. I think Ed and Tom have their "sweet/clear intervals" in different ranges which make them so complementary.
Ed's tone is incredibly clear on the mid-range, whereas Tom's tone in this range is nasally. Ed's tone turns nasally when Tom's tone becomes clear the higher up the scale they sing.
If you think about all the songs that Ed excelled at, it was always these long, prolonged note-holds that are so pure and crystal clear. (Think Stay With Me, Ave Maria, and Ave Virgo).
Talking about Ave Virgo, I absolutely love him on this. My favorite song on the new album to date, even surpassing Time. I've always been a sucker for Libera's more traditional songs.
I think I'll probably cross-post this to the video forum, but the YouTube user a bunch of us have been discussing actually did a cover on this. I just found it today, since I subscribe to his channel.
The video's here: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But I'll post the actual embedded video in the video forum since it's more appropriate.
Arrgghh...March is so far away! I want that album in my hands now! Lol.
Hey bar, have you ever told him about Libera Dreams. We should really invite this kid over. His Ave Virgo is impressive. I'd love to hear what he can do with Faithful Heart as I think that it is well within his range.

Yeah, that's a great idea. I agree, his Ave Virgo is quite impressive. I also noticed that he stresses the 2nd syllable of "Maris" instead of the first, but other than that, it's very, very impressive.
Maybe he is still learning the song? Afterall, it hasn't been out that long yet.

Yeah. Can't really fault him especially if he's not familiar with Latin pronunciation. That's the only miss though. The rest of it is impressive.
I think his voice and range will fit Faithful Heart well.

Mathmaniac wrote:If you have noticed in the compilation albums in the past few years (Angel Voices and The Best of...), Lacrymosa has been notoriously absent, although it has been used in many concerts since Ben C. originally recorded it. This is probably because it was originally released under a non EMI classics album. Look at the albums from which The Best of... takes tracks: Free, Visions, Angel Voices, and New Dawn. Rerecording Lacrymosa gives a) a new voice the chance to try it out, and b) RP the chance to keep it in rotation on any future Best of... albums (not that we need another one for quite a while).
Under a similar arguement, I wouldn't mind hearing Mysterium rerecorded. Or Vespera.
Well, Ben's version of Lacrymosa is on the AV - Libera in Concert CD which is an EMI release - it is not unusual to find live tracks on best of compilations.
It's probably just personal prejudice; Lacry is not a bad song, just not the one I would chose to rerecord. Others may have a different opinion and perhaps RP was swayed by the Benjamin Button connection?????

You may have something there, Yorkie. If Libera is a big EMI moneymaker, RP could have found himself in a position where he has to put a more well-known, contemporary song on the album. Think Orinoco Flow. And Benjamin Button was a pretty big blockbuster movie.
Edit: LOL! It just occurred to me how Lead Kindly Light seems like it would belong perfectly in a Disney movie, especially at 2:20 where the chimes come into this huge emotional buildup and release.
