BTW: I'm just back in the hotel from an amazing concert with the Riga Dom Boys Choir. I'm so happy that I took also a ticket for tomorrow's concert

I'm sure it's a proper broadcast since it's so official and everything. But the article doesn't mention any details about where etc. So I'm hoping to find that out in time or have forum members find it out for the rest of us

I watched the videos and enjoyed them (I think some songs were missing from what was uploaded on to YT according to what was performed on the WA website). The pieces performed jointly by both choirs sounded a little muddy (but that might be my prejudice against large choirs rather than any actual technical issues). I thought WA sounded great alone and they received some positive comments from Italians. Shame about the religious bigot from the 'Pines who had to trash them because they are Anglican though.

Thanks Maarten, I'll check out your blog. I think the 'missing' pieces were performed in a prelude to the service (they were sung in English rather than the 'Anglican but sung in Latin' pieces performed during the service.

I just got home from vacationing in Williamsburg. We left for vacation last Saturday. The night before we were hit by a huge storm, a "Derichio", with winds approaching 100 mph (160 kph). These storms are normally confined to Mexico and the Southwest US, but for about a week before the storm the Midwest had been experiencing record temperatures, well above 100 Fahrenheit. The Friday night the stored energy released in the form of a massive windstorm stretching from upper Illinois and lower Michigan, crossing Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia before sweeping over Pennsylvannia, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina before finally abating over the mid-portion of the US East Coast. It knocked out power for 5 million people initially, by late Saturday 2 to 3 million people were still without power. There was no warning for anyone on the east side of the Appalachain mountains, the US Weather Service "assumed" that the mountains would stop it cold. So the first hint we got Friday night was a bit of wind and dry lightening. I went outside to see if the breeze was cool enough to warrant opening some windows and noted that the wind was actually quite hot. Within minutes the wind poicked up to a railroad train pitch and the power flickered 3 or 4 times before com pletely failing. Saturday morning we did our best to secure the house for a prolonged power outage while we were away, like emptying the refrigerator. We drove east. In Richmond the power was still intermittent, we didn't reach an area with completely intact electricity until we got to Williamsburg. As the week progressed we kept track of the restoration of power in the eastern US. Our home area finally got power back Thursday. The record 100+ degree termperatures continued in the Midwestern and the Mid-Atlantic states the entire week. Some relief is expected next week.

What perverse sort of luck is it to choose your holiday week the very week that the power is going to be out, which would have prevented you from working anyway?
