A) whether Libera will perform on their own (they probably will but it's a bit tricky that it's not announced)
and B) whether I CAN come.
Plus all things considered it's a little expensive for me right now for this kind of event. I'll decide this week for sure probably.
Also, a friend of mine who lives near Alexandra Palace and loves Libera, says he won't go because he doesn't like big crowds and apparently Alexandra Palace is huge. What are some of your experiences?

True : London is expensive ! Finding a decent hotel at a decent price is a nightmare (in my case I lowered my sense of "decent" to fit the price  )
True : a massive crowd is expected, apparently they are awaiting 7.000 people ! I don't know at what time to start to queue...
Unsure : what is Libera going to sing ? One song from their own ? Two ? Three ? Or are they just making back chorus for Aled Jones or other singers ?

The show is running 2 hours, and they have at least 9 names in the list, and Libera is not one of the names written in bold, so to my opinion we will be lucky if they have 3 songs from their own. I excect less of that, hopping I'm wrong.
By the way it's surely going to be a great show with all the artists said :D

During the USA tour I tried to have a few information about that show, but it was not the good moment to ask that
The Libera staff was focused on the current tour, which was normal, and apparently they don't had too much details themselves at that moment. They were going to manage things for the SoP event after the USA tour ;)

I already bought tickets. The odds are not too bad for me to be in Europe over this weekend. But will be a rather shortterm decision.

Actually I can live on a budget pretty well in London. It's the plane ticket that would drive the price up ;) I would probably be staying again in the youth hostel across from St. Paul's Cathedral http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodatio ... index.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'd probably share a dorm but that's OK for just a weekend. I found that hostel last time I was in London when I needed to find alternative accommodation when the bed and breakfast I was going to stay in only had room for 2 nights instead of 3. That b&b is really nice too, a little out of the centre but very well connected with public transport and in a nice area (waking up among squirrels and birds is not so bad I think :)) http://www.bandbinbarnes.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You talk about a queue - is that just your Libera fanhood automatism ;) or are there no fixed seats?

I agree there are other great artists on the programme, I think it's a great opportunity to see Andrea Bocelli live for that price.

No reserved seats for the general admission, and if they really expect to have 7.000 people there, for sure the seat will be better for the first 100 than the last ;)

I could visit and maybe I won't use a hotel at all.
The concert would end pretty late, I'd love to spend a few hours in a cosy pub afterwards (until the last train), have a tea , hopefully meet some fans  and leave directly for the airport for a very early flight!

which is not very encouraging but I believe they sometimes install stadium type seating for specific events. At least it isn't a rock concert so the audience will probably remain seated which should help.

Wow, in fact it's very not encouraging

Event if they put seats into the area, the view seems very limited.... :?
Do you think they would let me in if I bring a stepladder with me ?

From the pictures I had found on flickr previously, Alexandra Palace (apparently nicknamed Ally Pally) is just one gigantic, empty room that they can configure any way they choose. Here's some pictures as examples.

Probably the BBC will come in with a crew and build a stage, so it may not look like the rock concert stage pictured earlier. And if all else fails, you can always watch yourselves on TV a few weeks later. :D

Okay despite the prospect of meeting forum members I decided that I won't go, based on the info about the venue. I'll just hang tight and wait for a proper Libera concert that I can attend.

Now I just hope you guys won't prove me wrong after all ;)

You'll have to search for hotels in greater London and not central as they are too expensive. I am staying at Premier Inn in Elstree/Boreham Wood as the rooms are £29 per night. It's about 40 mins drive from Ally Pally. Look also for Travelodge as they often have good rates.

Once you're into central London, you are looking at £100 per night!
