A chance for a more normal year of music? Ely taking bookings for the Libera concert, the Tölzer Knabenchor festival currently on their schedule... and then if you like the Poznan Boys' Choir you could see them here on the 18th June...

Alongside the Windsbacher knabenchor, Nidarosdomens Guttekor and the Hannover Knabenchor. Don't think tickets are for sale yet, but could be an amazing festival to attend!

P.s. The Bad Tölz festival is currently scheduled for the weekend after Ely.

Also the Nidarosdomens choir are probably the ones I most want to see out of that list, as I have heard good things about them many times but have yet to see them live.

I warmly recommend that! A few weeks ago, I discovered that announcement for Nuremberg. Yes, it would be fantastic if it took place! I saw the Nidarosdomens Guttekor in 2018 in Florence. Actually, they were the ultimate reason to realise my long lasting wish to see Florence at last! So I had both: a marvelous city and two wonderful choral concerts. And right, they are really good and have a beautiful, warm sound. They were scheduled to sing in Cologne Cathedral in May 2020, but for obvious reasons they had to postpone it ... to 2022, but I haven't heard anything new about that so far. Actually, I doubt that Nuremberg will happen, yet of course I keep the dates free and keep hoping, very much so.

As for Bad Tölz, the latest news I had was no news, so how certain are you? I'd love to go there again.

Some fun stuff is happening with our Poznański chłopięc (Poznan boys).

The City of Poznan commissioned them to make a CD of lullabies to be given to Poznan's newest residents, the newborn babies. That's what the "Słoneczko już gasi złoty blask" (Now the Sun's Golden Glow is Fading) video on the first page was all about. It's a lullaby that will be on the CD.

Now there's a new video with a dark lullaby called "Bajka iskierki" (The Fairy Tale of the Little Spark). It features a beautiful but melancholy solo by Franciszek Trojanowski. He and his crack team of sound technicians (also in the video) have teamed up to bring us a unique and compelling presentation.

To commemorate the opening of the XXIV Winter Olympics in Beijing, the latest work of the "Public Benefit Virtual Choir" organized by the Shanghai Acapella Center has been released. 243 little singers from all over the world gathered to sing in 15 cities, in which the Poznan Boys Choir participated...

Kołysanka dla szaranka (Lullaby for a toddler) has just been released digitally. All songs are solos, duos and trios by the boys who are credited in the track info. Videos featuring two of the songs were posted previously in this topic.

I suspect he's moved on. He hasn't been seen since the Berlin concert in mid-December. He has to be 15 or very close to it. Even Polish boys don't remain trebles forever.

It's a rather special thing when a boys choir gets some national recognition in their home country.

This past Friday, at the Polish Independence Day celebration in Warsaw, PBC artistic director and composer Jacek Sykulski was awarded the silver Gloria Artis medal by the Ministry of Culture. He was a recipient of the bronze medal in 2013.

Voices from the Past - Concert on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

The "Voices from the Past" concert is a musical tribute to the victims of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, marking its 80th anniversary. Held at the National Museum in Poznań, the program features a repertoire of carefully selected Jewish themes with melancholic melodies that reflect the spirit of those times.

The concert includes original compositions by Jacek Sykulski, P. Łukaszewski, Z. Preisner, and K. A. Arnesen, as well as arrangements of works by Mordechai Gebirtig and Herman Yablokoff in Yiddish.

The Poznań Boys' Choir will perform, accompanied by the clarinet of Sławomir Heinrychowski.

Memories from the Warsaw Ghetto will be read by Sebastian Grek of the Nowy Theater in Poznań.

The event is co-organized by the National Museum in Poznań and supported by the German Embassy in Warsaw, the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute, and the City of Poznań. Join us in commemorating the Jewish community's suffering during World War II with music as a universal language.
