Seems to me he has to work hard in the first part but then in the second part he is really "there". Love the small smile on his face after he takes his bow Best thing about this video is that I forgot that I prefer a female soprano singing this song!
You raise me high beyond the sky
Through stormy night lifting me above
After a small amount of research looking for the name of this soloist, found out his name is, Baudouin Aube.
I expect its been discussed before, but is new to my ears.

This is in reply to a post in the General Chat > Most Underappreciated Album thread. I thought it might fit better here.

I am glad you know of "Forever Autumn"! I love that song too and am a fan of the Jeff Wayne musical version of War Of The Worlds. The song would make a good Libera track I think as well. Since you a Justin Hayward fan do you have the album he did with the bassist from the Moody Blues, John Lodge, called Blue Jays? That is an excellent album as well. His solo albums are quite good too. Sorry to go a bit off topic here ..
I actually don't know any Justin Hayward songs outside of the Moody Blues, except for "Forever Autumn". I definitely want to check out "Blue Jays" since it was from back in their prime period and I see on Amazon that album has 107 reviews with 5 stars! Thanks for pointing this out for me, LiberAeterna.
I've always liked Justin's voice and there are so many very good Moody Blues songs, that I think I will like "Blue Jays" just fine.

Wow, this kid is a real find, Paul. He does an excellent job on these two songs. Does anyone know which choir he is with?
I would like to hear him on "Suo Gan" the piece James Rainbird did in 'Empire on the Sun". Come to think of it, I'd like to hear Libera do that one too.

Well, in this video he sings with Les Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois (PCCB). A charming French choir who are not always up to par but who still have a good name to keep up. I for instance love this video of them back in the '60s:

And this one, with the same soloist we saw earlier in the famous meow song video, who has a wonderful voice - very clear and strong and still sensitive - and I love how the choir here really carries him:

Thanks Maarten Wow that kid can really sing! Agree 100% on his voice.
Speaking of the Meow song, there is actually a DVD available called "L'or Des Anges" that has video of that song being rehearsed and performed, and a lot of other excellent footage from other European choirs. Here is a link to the IMDB info:

The original production is in French, but I have the DVD and I just turn on the English language option and I'm all good.
It's a rather good video and well worth a viewing
And the abomination that is the meow song is the reason why I rate the PCCB as less likeable than rapists, axe murders and politicians.
Yorkie! your harsh.
Yes I do agree that the meow song was an abomination, but even Libera has done stuff that is a little of the wall.
Remember the Libera dance lol.
Can't judge them on one thing alone. and not to that level.

I think the dance might have been before they created Libera - is so it might explain my indifference to the three AV albums.....
And any musical organisation that stoops to the depths of the meow song can never be taken seriously. What next boys in sailor uniforms doing cover versions of Eternal Flame?
If I’ve got owt to say I says it, and if I’ve got owt to ask I asks it.

Well Yorkie if you don't like the Meow song in the video that was posted earlier... you might have to get out your sick bag if you watch "L'or des Anges" because the two boys don cat costumes for their performance on the DVD. I'd have to say that was bizarre.
On the other hand, it does have footage of Knabenchor Hannover holding tryouts, and performances by Worcester Cathedral Choir doing "Balulalow" from Britten's Ceremony of Carols among others, so you may want to give it a try.
One of the special features is a documentary called Rejoice! which shows choirs practicing and performing in the International Festival of Boys Choirs in Poznan, Poland and has an interesting interview with Edward Higginbottom from the Choir of New College Oxford.
Here is an excerpt of tryouts for Knabenchor Hannover:
