The above quote from Jimmy is more that 4 years old.
At that time Mark McKenzie did announced the extended version of the wonderful 'Benedictus Deus', but sadly, for some reason this didn't materialize.
Over time this announcement had been forgotten, all hopes were lost...
Yesterday I saw for my biggest surprise that a French dubbed version of the 'Greatest Miracle' has been made, named 'Le Grand Miracle', and that it will be released next week on Theatres in France, on March 22 (here).
A very modest release though, just an handful of theatres are listed
I posted a small comment to make known to the readers the names of the soundtrack composer and the choir that sings such beautifully.
Today, another big surprise !
Mark McKenzy himself has posted about the release of the film in France (here), and guess what ?
The announce of the extended version of 'Benedictus Deus' is back !!
He wrote:
"Very pleased the London boys choir LIBERA will release a newly recorded and extended 'Benedictus Deus' soon"
Of course, after a first wait that lasted a couple of years, it is advisable to be cautious, but strong hopes can be nourished.
It's unclear to me if the 'newly recorded' extended version refers to the record that was possibly made 4 years ago with Stefan, or if it's about a really recent version, with another soloist than Stefan to sing on the introduction.
In that case, I wonder who among the current group could be Stefan's successor.
Any idea ?

Great news, thanks for the update FDL.
Scary how fast 4 years rolls by. I'm thinking 'Newly Recorded' probably means recently with the latest crop of boys. I'm taking a wild guess that Alex M will have the stefan intro if this is the case.

On this page is the french version of the trailer : http://www.publiciscinemas.com/film/192864/video
Benedictus Deus can be heard from 00:13'' to 00:51''
It sounds quite familiar with just a bit of echo effect added, but is it the same version as the one we know ?
Despite several comparative listening I can't make up my mind...

Sounds exactly like Stefans version to me but with a slight echo like you said ?

If he's stating that Libera will be releasing the extended version then I wonder where and in what form?

Re: The Great Miracle Soundtrack by Mark McKenzie with Libera!!
The film "Le Grand Miracle" in French version was released this Wednesday and I went to watch it today.
Only three theatres have it, in the whole Paris Area.
The theatre I chose was small, only 80 seats. It was filled by about the two-thirds, which is more than I thought it would be.
I forgot that the opening credits were made with the song 'Far Away' sung by Michael H, a pleasant surprise.
The song Benedictus Deus was identical to the short version we already know.
Hopefully it will not be too long before we can hear the extended version that Mark McKenzie reported one week ago.
In terms of technical animation, the film is basic, it made me to think of a movie version of the SIMS game... But it's pleasant to listen some Libera music in a theatre and share this moment with fifty people
The name of the choir 'Libera' appears briefly at the end credits.
I took a quick photo but it moved a bit.

I envy you.
By the way, is Libera also singing in "Ascension / Gloria Patri"?
