More tracks from Peace appear in videos on YouTube everyday. I may have the whole album downloaded by April 6. Under such cicumstances I'm not sure I'm going to buy the CD. Maybe for the next album they won't shun the US market.

I know the feeling Tully, but you WILL buy the album because you have too much respect for the boys not to :D Of course 'they' in this context is EMI - Libera will have no say over the album release.

Maybe reduced sales in the US market will help EMI to formulate a better policy.

They have not shunned the u,s market.

No albums are released all over the world at the same time. So why would Libera do that ?

However, if you have a decent market and a growing fan base it would be a smart idea NOT to release to one market a month or more after another market. Because then individuals from the former market will just obtain the product from one of the latter markets. This will make the statistics of the "ignored" or the less thought about market look disasterous. Record companies want to GAIN sales in a certain market and rarely do they want to lose sales even from their smallest market

By the looks of it they will be lucky to shift what 1000 copies in the u,s ? it seems to me unless they go over there and do concerts more people wont even know they have an album out.

The Japan market and here are still there most porfitable and so have released here first.

Clearly EMI know the market and know the risks and have done it this way. The lose of sales in the U,S is not going to make that much of a difference when most of Libera fans are over 40 and dont download music.

Also the wonderful world on the internet means people can now buy albums and ship them abroad if they want it that much sooner. So there is also that option.

I understand where you are coming from, but I must emphasize that any record company would not want to lose sales in ANY country, whether it is small or not, Americans buying from a non American based store/internet are contributing to the purchasee market and taking away from American sales. So there could be ALOT more American sales(because seriously their fan base in the 16-30 age range is starting to grow) but we are not offered the opportunity.....

It is similar with TV shows that hail from America to say Britain....Internationally that TV show could have had better international ratings at the time of premier if it was was offered to Britain alot sooner(maybe a week of lets say)...

What it mostly boils down to is money made for the production companies, any company would want to make more money and find ways to do so...

Again I am not disagreeing with you because you are right and bring up a very valid point :)

That is a valid point and thats why in the last 18 months shows like Lose and 24 are now days behind the u,s as with the net they was losing mass viwers because people downloaded.

I think if anything will hurt sales in the U,S it will have been the whole album on amazon than a months delay in releasing the album.

I know I'm jumping into the middle of the conversation, but I agree. I don't understand why the album wasn't released at the same time here in the U.S.( I kinda do understand. At least I think I do.This is more thinking out loud.) Having the whole album on amazon, but not releasing it makes it hard for the fans. These are the times that I wish their was a bigger fan base of Libera here in America.

Same here, unfortunately Americans(and our country isn't the only one) is too caught up with being one tracked in msuic and everything else that most Americans miss out on some eally good music that they would probably secretly love.
