I'm late but glad I managed to get the Peace album today! YAY! Cheers, I'm enjoying every song in it, but too bad it didn't had any element of surprise like for New Dawn since I have already heard all the songs on amazon. But nevertheless, the album is awesome!

I know I'm jumping into the middle of the conversation, but I agree. I don't understand why the album wasn't released at the same time here in the U.S.( I kinda do understand. At least I think I do.This is more thinking out loud.) Having the whole album on amazon, but not releasing it makes it hard for the fans. Same here, unfortunately Americans(and our country isn't the only one) is too caught up with being one tracked in msuic and everything else that most Americans miss out on some eally good music that they would probably secretly love.

Think of all the different genres of music that have sprung up over the past century, and then figure out how many of them originated in the US: jazz, blues, rock and roll, pop-folk, "easy listening", gospel, country-western, electronic, metal, disco, rap, soul, fusion..... The list keeps going on. The problem may not be that Americans are one-tracked towards music, but instead that the market is so diverse and fragmented. There are fewer broadcast stations / channels in the UK, Japan, Korea, the Phillipines, so anything played on one is going to acheive a greater market penetration. A given radio staion in any of these countries will be received throughout most of the country, but not in the US.

do you guys think that EMI were not able to shoot some music videos for New Dawn because of the fact that they collaborated with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra? i mean, the orchestra got paid too right? and i'm sure it's a huge expense. Now that the songs in Peace are only accompanied with synthesizers and occasional violin, so EMI still have money to shoot a couple of music videos. anyways, it's only my random theory

I'm quite aware of just how many genres do come from the US(considering I was once a music major and had to learn alll about that). However my point was that many in America choose NOT to open up and listen to a certain genre. Yes you are correct that when it comes to music America is quite diverse, but many still give stereotypes to a certain genre so they refuse to listen to it.

Using myself as an example, I use to HATE country with a passion because I always associated it with bigots and hicks etc. Then I heard a country song that really hit home for me so I decided to listen to more country to see maybe if I do like some of it, and it turns out I do.

Yes we have a plethora of radio stations that vary across the country, but I'm quite sure that if someone(who does not have good ecclectic tastes like we do ) were to hear Libera in passing they would not stop on it and listen and give it a chance because "it's not their type of music." So many American are how I use to be and not giving different music genres a chance...also many do not appreciate nor understand(nor do they want to unfortunately) the complexity of many genres like Classical and New Age.

I don't think you quite understood what I was driving at. Music is generally sold via exposure on radio stations. People listen to the radio, hear some thing they like, then go out and buy it. Japan, the UK, Korea are all small highly compact countries. You could probably put 90% of the population of England within listening range just by getting your music played on 2 or 3 stations. The same thing is true for Japan and Korea. The US is a different matter. If you want to achieve that same level of market penetration you'd have to gain air time on literally hundreds of stations. It's no wonder that Libera doesn't sell well in the US, They're simply not known because their advertising doesn't have the necessary distribution to reach even a tiny fraction of the population.

Still I can't think of a good reason for holding the release of Peace back in the US. I imagine the discs and cases distributed in the US will be manufactured here. There's no reason why the data for the discs and the packaging couldn't be sent across the Atlantic electronically, so there's no reason why EMI couldn 't arrange a near simultaneous release.

Yes, I certainly miss the Libera era of artistic, thought-provoking music videos. What I wouldn't give for a remake of Vespera or I Am The Day (spinning light-wheel version ).

Most of those videos were made for Songs of Praise or similar programs. In the past few years SOP seems to have opted for more conventional videos of the choir singing in traditional church settings. I don't know why. Maybe it's a budget thing.

I finally have my copy of "Peace"! This is something to look forward to after such a stressful week. I bought it last night but I can't listen to it till later tonight because I just realized that I have no CD player in my apartment and that my computer office cannot play CDs. Boo.
