Not a surprise to me. What is interesting is that the only two other song to get significant listens are the covers of Love Shine a Light & God Only knows.
Not sure how many people would have selected LSAL as the song with the second most number of plays (apart from me of course )

YT Music (which is where I got this from) combines video and audio plays, so songs with videos will get significantly more total plays.Yorkie wrote: ↑11 months ago

Re: Forever (Spring 2023)
I love the idea that a classical piece can be the most popular track, especially when it goes up against two songs that are well known in popular music.
Most people would’ve put money in “God Only Knows†being the song that would get the most traction on the album, especially in the short term, but yet here we are, 8 months down the line since Ave Verum Corpus was released - over 2.2 million views on YouTube, and nigh on 4 times as many plays as the next best.
I don’t know what explains it…
As my Caribbean Grandmas would say “Wha’gwaan, wha’appen??â€

Re: Forever (Spring 2023)
I thought I would revisit this thread because my opinion has changed about a couple songs. In my previous incarnation as "bachmahlerfan", I expressed a strong preference for "God only Knows" over "Love Shine a Light". While I still think "God only Knows" is a superior composition, I find the Libera version a bit awkward for some reason. It may be a combination of the subject matter and the way the arrangement changes the overall sound compared to the original. The original had a rather peculiar, yet very effective combo of instruments. Nevertheless, the contrast between the solo voices of Luca and Daniel is certainly effective.
"Love Shine a Light" may be a less interesting composition, but I think it works really well in this particular arrangement by Libera. The treble voices complement the mood and message of the song very well. I was initially dismissive of "Anima Christi", but it's another perfect vehicle for Libera's voices. The variety of solo voices also adds to the enjoyment of this track.

Re: Forever (Spring 2023)
I looked back at the old messages just to confirm which song we disagreed on, and I guess it was "Love Shine a Light". Anyways, hopefully we'll have another album to argue over in a few months.Yorkie wrote: ↑6 months agoEverybody agrees with me in the end What took you so long!fugalharmony wrote: ↑6 months ago I thought I would revisit this thread because my opinion has changed about a couple songs. Re: Forever (Spring 2023)
Though I was definitely a fan of LSAL from the beginning, this is really funny.
Re: Forever (Spring 2023)
Yes, LSAL - sorry I wasn't clear. Given my absolute (and vocal) trashing of WSK Goes Pop, it might have been expected that I would hate LSAL as a lightweight puff piece but it just clicked with me. Probably a combination of the lyrics & a sprinkle of Libera magic.fugalharmony wrote: ↑6 months agoI looked back at the old messages just to confirm which song we disagreed on, and I guess it was "Love Shine a Light". Re: Forever (Spring 2023)
It's a close race among YouTube viewers. With a two-week head start, Love Shine a Light has 302K views vs. 281K views for God Only Knows.
I think there's a high probability of hearing both at the upcoming UK concerts.
