Hopefully this will be broadcast by the BBC in better quality later... but just in case it isn't...

If it is, let us know. Sounds really great and what an honor to be able to sing at such an important event.

I mean Kaelan (who is amazing in his own right) had the treble solo there, but I was again thinking really how exceptional Malakai is and how many opportunities he has had. I really, really hope someone has considered recording a second album. I feel the first was rushed out to cash in on the BGT fame, but he has had enough exposure to make a success of a second... but who knows! I would have, if I had anything to do with it!!

I wish I could go over and hear them! And I wonder if they will meet any other choirs there? Uppsala domkyrkas gosskör have been to the UK twice and both times I was able to hear them sing in the Swedish Church in London and they were fantastic! I was also lucky enough to get to hear the reigning Årets Gossopran https://skgf.sjungikyrkan.nu/foreningen ... gossopran/ on both occasions! In 2023 this was Henry Nilsson, and in the concert I attended he sang Oscar Ahnfelt's "Blott en dag, ett ogonblick i sander", which was fabulous!

Also Happy National Day Of Sweden, to any Swedes on the forum!

I notice Scott is pushing the promotion of his two ballad opera shows later this week (it's on license from MTI which means he will have paid to put on this production) so I'm posting it here:

I wasn't initially going to attend, as it is at the school and I felt uncomfortable attending if it was meant for parents only. However, it sounded so interesting I actually asked Scott at the end of the Visions concert specifically if it was open to the public, and he said yes it was and that I should go see it! (and presumably that invite extends to the rest of you oiks, too :P)

And I mean, look at the voices on offer in that cast!

If one side is the Chapel Royal and the other is St Paul's, I'd have a hard time predicting a winner. They look equally formidable!

It looks like Stockholms Gosskör will be travelling for part of the month, but could be back by then.

Coincidentally they were the choir that I heard in the Ely Cathedral Lady Chapel in 2018, I'd heard them in the Swedish Church in London and they were good enough to be worth a trip to hear them a second time in Ely. :)

Here they are in Ely in 2018.

Edit: Here's one of my favourite song's from them which I heard on the day and is on one of the albums they sold me during that tour.

That sounds fantastic!! I heard the Drakies once a few years ago in the South African Embassy in London. They were fun and sounded great, although, if I'm entirely honest, I was ever so slightly distracted by the free flowing (and I mean excessively free flowing...!) and utterly delicious South African wine...
► Show Spoiler
They formed a guard of honour for all the guests as we left, except everyone just wanted to stay and hear more, which led to a situation where the director was trying to coerce guests into leaving.

As for the other two choirs, I've never heard them, and the Eton choir in particular sounds intriguing! Thanks.

A fabulous production!

Interestingly enough, there was an event back in 2018 where the real life modern Edward's Boys and the St Paul's boys did get together for a mixed theatre and music performance. They had two performances, one in the OBE Chapel in the crypts of St Paul's Cathedral (which I was lucky enough to attend) and another in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse (The smaller 17th century style indoor theatre next to the Globe).

https://edwardsboys.org.uk/reviews/when ... ards-boys/

Although, that review suggests that the two troupes never met in real life, while the director of the ballad opera says there is evidence the two did perform together in 1582. What is clear is that there have been choristers and young actors entertaining and delighting crowds of music and drama enthusiasts for more than 400 years and CVMS proved quite resoundingly in this production that that heritage is still alive and well! The golden generation, they were called last night, and I'd not be the one to gainsay that!
