whoops, just realized I haven't shared the results of the championship.
Well, it was a wonderful competition. Over 400 competitors there. WE sent 4 students from our school and every one of them placed. I took home 3rd in what are called "Poom'se" (bit disappointed about that) and 1st in Sparring. I'm now considered (within our organization) to be a national champion.

A poom'se (or poomse) is a series of choreographed movements and is made to represent a controlled defensive situation against a series of 4 or more opponents. To clarify, it's a bunch of moves thrown together in specific intervals, directions, and speeds. It gets harder and harder, longer and longer each time you move up in rank. Here is a video that will show you to people (I don't know them) doing a form. As both are black belts, you'll notice that the form is really long.kjackson83 wrote:Congrats, tcliffy!
What's a "poom'se?"

Wow--that looks really hard. Looks like you've got to have excellent muscle control and discipline to do that in a synchronized fashion.tcliffy wrote:Here is a video that will show you to people (I don't know them) doing a form. As both are black belts, you'll notice that the form is really long.
This'll be my 9th year in October.xsakurax wrote:Hey, Tcliffy! Congratulations! How long have you been learning the taekwondo? You are really amazing!

So... um, I probably wont be on for a few days after today due to the hurricane hitting us. I'm going to be right in it's path and even if I'm not, we're going to be flooded. I've just been told not to come in to work tomorrow and possibly wednesday.

Thanks everyone for your prayers, thus far nothings happened... not even a drop of rain yet. The hurricane never actually became a hurricane so there's nothing as of yet to really worry about, Praise God.
