Listen to Wayfaring Stranger. It's live, but it gives a good sense of Sam's upper range. (Granted, his solo does not go very high, but at least it gives a sense) To me, it sounds very different from the track. But it's all up for debate.alcesalcesobservator wrote:The voice's quality sound's a bit like Sam Wiggin, but I have no recordings showing Sam's upper range, and the "t"'s are pronounced differently.john45 wrote:Don't forget Gabriel whose solo role has been expanding recently.JimmyRiddle wrote:Alessandro, Gregor, Ciaran, Merlin, Camden....
This topic needs a poll!... all will be revealed soon hopefully, if Libera continues their recent trend to credit soloists.

Sam? Considering that he has been on the back row for some time now I think we can rule him out as the soloist on this song.
"Wayfaring Stranger" was recorded back in 2014.
The soloist on "Silent Night" is definitely still a treble.

It's funny how the more I have heard it the less I am convinced it's anybody I know. Maybe Merlin or Gregor?!

I am also slightly more confident now that it is Gregor or Merlin. Out of the two, I'm sticking with Gregor because the recording sounds less bright than the sound I have heard from Merlin previously.
Re: Libera at Christmas - EP
I was just listening to I Vow To Thee My Country and thinking that the mystery soloist on Silent Night sounds a bit like the voice at 0:24 on that track, which would be either Camden Stewart or Alex Montoro based on the liner notes, and I think it was probably Camden. I'm going to guess that that the Silent Night soloist is Camden for the moment. After listening some more, I don't think it's Alessandro or Ciaran. However, I can't rule out the soloists I haven't heard yet, like Gregor. Do we know how old Gregor is, by the way? It seems like a slightly older treble voice to me, which would also fit with Camden, who I believe is about 12.

Gregor is also twelve. I think he is the odds-on favourite as being the soloist.
Re: Libera at Christmas - EP
Somebody has suggested to me that the soloist for Silent Night could be Alex Montoro.
I could see how that is strong possibility.

Re: Libera at Christmas - EP
I apologize for this little off topic, but the coincidence is funny,
Today 23/11 the label Warner Music Japan releases a new compilation CD in its "All stars" series.
This one is devoted to... "Silent Night", sung by 15 different artists.
Track 01 is sung by Libera,
Track 10 is by the Choir of King's College, Cambridge,
Track 14 is by the Wiener Sangerknaben.

(samples can be heard from the link at the bottom of the page).
It's a previous record of 'Silent Night' from Libera, not the one on the Christmas EP

Quite right that Libera's version is listed as 'Track 1'.

The CD can now be purchased directly from Libera (rather than just through a link on their website to Amazon). I assume that this supports them financially as it eliminates the middleman.

Wow, that is super early - who did you buy that from? The Furby wrote:Got my copy today and it is indeed Alex MontoroYorkie wrote:Somebody has suggested to me that the soloist for Silent Night could be Alex Montoro.

Yes, well done Alex. He did of course have some solo's this summer and although his name wasn't first on my list once I thought about it it was extremely likely - I have heard Ciaran and Alessandro and Gregor and it wasn't really like them.

He has a lovely voice so I hope to hear from him on Friday.
That's the one positive about the group that as voices change we get to hear new boys who equally have stunning voices. I am starting to appreciate that more now than I ever did before.
