Definitely a change for them in terms of having the dancers and so forth as part of the shrine background. I'm not sure if the setting did anything or added anything to the song but I'm sure that the intended Japanese audience will probably enjoy it.
It's always good to have more music videos to help promote them online and to bring them to new audiences.
Agreed. The comments from Japanese fans were very positive. 1,500 views in the first 30 minutes is a nice start.
Was anyone able to decipher what Ben wrote? The best I could do was "To be a something-something writer for Libera." I guess they're teaching some kind of print-cursive hybrid in the UK.

If there is someone in this forum who knows more about Shintoism, perhaps they can explain what's going on in this video. I'll admit that I'm a little uncomfortable with the part at the end where it seems to show some of the singers 'praying'. I would think that if you are doing that it would imply that you actually believe in the religion, but this could be different for all I know. I just wonder how some Libera fans will react to it, especially the ones who tend to think of Libera in terms of its Christian roots. Nevertheless, I quite like the arrangement. I like how the repetition later in the song with subtly changing harmonies creates a rather hypnotic effect.
The boards are called ema, where visitors write prayers or wishes. The pouring of water is to "purify" the visitor before approaching the shrine. The bowing with hands together is a gesture of entreaty to the spirits of the shrine to fulfill the wish. The dances are called kagura, and are performed for various reasons like honoring the spirits of the shrine and purifying visitors.
IMHO, it's a harmless education in the religious practices of another culture.

I think it's 'To be a successful writer for Libera'. I wouldn't have got writer if you hadn't said it but think the word before is 'successful'.
The issue of being at a sacred place for a faith that isn't yours is an interesting one but I think it could just be that they're showing respect for another faith which is perfectly fine. Though I'm not Japanese or a follower of Shintoism so I obviously can't say how they'd feel about it.
That's what they need. The more hits they get on YouTube the more the algorithm will pick the video out on related searches. Better yet when they start appearing in the recommended row on viewer's home pages.

I find it quite touching that Ben would use his ema for "To be a successful writer for Libera." I tells me that even though his time in Libera has been short, he can foresee continuing his contributions long into adulthood. I think that the current album opened the boys' eyes to the fact that the current creative team welcomes contributions from their former choristers, and will continue to do so. It also tells me that he's confident he's got what it takes to become a Libera songwriter like his parents and "uncles."
It’s just reached 20k in a day and a half so quite impressive numbers when you look at the other two videos that have been released and their numbers. Sam has done another remarkable job on this song. The future looks bright.

The Mushrafi brothers seem to have the Midas Touch. How proud their parents must be.

Libera seem to have uploaded Once again but this time the (Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence) is missing from the title. Not sure why???
I suppose some people may be confused by that if they're not familiar with the origin of the song. It's not really a Christmas song, but rather music from a film where Christmas plays an important role and is in the title.

Maybe an error as it’s not like people don’t love the song and it’s doing incredibly well.
Unless they think the Christmas title is hurting the views but compared to the other two songs it’s doing fantastically well. In 3 days it’s already got 30’000 hits.

The full title is still there when I search it. Maybe they changed it back?

Agreed. It seems like an error to me as well.
They didn't put the logo on the thumbnail (which seems like a YT generated one) and they didn't put the usual info underneath. Still, it got 3K views in 9 hours.

By the way, I love the juxtaposition here…

It's gone now so obviously an error. There were two separate videos with the two different names but the video was identical in each.
