I feel, it very important to keep all here updated on what is happening and I will post information as soon as I receive it. I intend to do everything I can to keep libera-dreams alive. Including investing money if needed.
Wow, thanks Paul, for getting so involved in this... This is the first time in a very long time that anybody has received a reply from anybody connected to the site... Was the reply from Mark Lane by any chance? He is the only other person I know of with any control over the website, besides Kevin...

Yes it was.
I can honestly say, the future of dreams is looking not so bad, and there maybe a big overhaul and upgrade on the cards. Its early days right now, and I don't want to make promises, but I will do everything I can to keep dreams alive.

Is it likely to cost much Paul?

Costs will be minimal, it maybe $10 to secure the domain for a further 2 years, so its not something I would consider. My main concern, is being able to keep all the original posts and user accounts. But this looks likely

OK that's good. Hopefully Kevin will agree to hand things over. Can't think why he wouldn't.

Ah, now that you mention it Mark Lane was the name Kevin mentioned.
See? I knew you could do it.
I'm sure that everyone here would be willing to chip in for the price of ownership.

Just to keep everyone informed about what is happening with dreams. I can confirm that I have secured full access to the site, passwords will be provided to me in a couple of days. I will wait, and on receipt, I will propose plans for dreams. Most importantly, I will have access to all posts, meaning we will not have to loose thousands of posts from the last few years.
Just to put minds as ease, my plans involve the whole community in the redesign of this site. I do not intend to take sole responsibility, as this is not fair. This community is owned by everyone who has contributed, and will stay that way

Wow! Thank you for doing all of this, Paul! Glad to have someone who really knows what they're doing. And maybe I'll have a chance to get my account with my name on it!

How much do you plan on changing? Some parts of the site seem to have lost functionality. The homepage doesn't display properly. I don't know why. Could it be because the coding hasn't been updated?

The reason the front page does not display correctly is, When Kevin stopped maintaining this site and left it, he removed all the media, video's pictures as they are his. Both Kevin and Mark thought this community bailed along with the admins and where not even aware that libera-dreams is still active, well not until I made contact.
There will not be any big changes to dreams at first, just really get everything backed up, and a bit of functionality back to the site, and bring the forum up to date a little.

Wow, what a difference a forum page makes. Page 2 I was sad, page 3 I'm happy.
I had been a member of another forum (not Libera-related) before (utilizing phpBB as well) where the owner just let the domain expired. No announcement whatsoever. The thing just disappeared one day. It was sad as I had a lot of nice discussions there with a few members that I would have loved to keep for posterity.
Thanks, Paul. You saved a good site.

here, here. Glad to hear there's a rescue package in place to stop the 'forum' dissapearing into the Cyberspace Graveyard!
So are you the new 'webmaster' Paul?
Seriously, well done, and hopefully an upgrade is on the cards. So that bit at the bottom. 'Powered by phpBB © 2001, 2005...' becomes a little bit more recent!
