Hi all.
Do any of you guys in the Philippines know if Libera have been able to leave?
You might know from t.v. that all flights in the UK and much of Europe have been grounded since Thursday due to a volcanic ash cloud. Doesn't look like things will improve before Monday so I was wondering if they were staying on for longer in the 'Pines?

Hi Yorkie, I don't really know. From their status, it seems like they were on their way or have gone already. I'm trying to find if they stopped any flights to UK in the Philippines.
When you said "grounded", does that also mean that they are not allowing flights into those countries?

I don't know as well. There's no direct flight from Phils to UK so it's hard to find out. I could only hope that they're safe.

They will probably make their way to Singapore, and then take it from there. Some of Scotlands and Manchester's airspace was open for a short time early this morning. Now it's closed again.
Sounds like a logistical nightmare really.
P.S. thanks for more info on how the songs went

If they're here in Singapore, there's a chance they'll be stranded, too, because flights to Europe have been cancelled. SIA cancelled 21 flights and today, 45 flights were cancelled.
The only flights that SIA is operating now is Singapore-Rome or Singapore-Greece. It would be better if they stayed in the Philippines because the chances of getting good accommodation here are probably very slim because of this turn of events.

Yes, pretty much all flights in and out of the UK and now most of Western Europe are grounded. Nobody is going anywhere and the latest news reports are saying that the volcano is erupting worse than ever now.
Poor kids, I hope they aren't too upset and I'm sure their parents must be getting a bit worried as well.

Oh man. That is bad news. I really hope they stayed in the Philippines. That would be the best option because I'm sure the organizers there would keep the boys nice and comfy. I wouldn't be too happy about getting stranded in an airport. There's very little to go with right now, regarding their whereabouts although I have a feeling they've flown out already.

Finally some news (picked up from Angelvoices YG):
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8626765.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My guess earlier wasn't so far off about possible places for landing. Libera landed in Athens, Greece. Too bad they couldn't perform there.
The BBC's Malcolm Brabant at Athens Airport says: "After delighting audiences in Toyko, Seoul and Manila with their angelic voices, the 23 boys of the Libera school choir from South London have come down with a bump in the Greek capital, Athens.
"After a fourteen hour flight from Manila, the boys, aged seven to 15, and their chaperones, found that they were stranded and likely to miss important exams back in Britain on Monday.
"Robert Prizeman, the group's head, said they may travel by coach as the earliest time they had been given for flights was Friday."
I hope the boys get there on time.

Still a long way to go if they are traveling by coach.

It's a relief to know that they're okay but it must have been hard for all of the people who were stranded because of the event. I hope everyone gets to their home safely.

Ugh...I can't even begin to imagine how tired the boys must be now. 14 hr flight from Manila, and then someone from the YG mentioned a 36hr drive by coach from Athens to UK.

Poor boys. The chaperones must also be very haggard now.

Oh god, even with regular stops, a 36hr coach trip sounds like a nightmare. I'd get claustrophobic. I hate being couped up in tiny spaces for too long. Hope they get a luxury and very comfortable coach!

36-hour drive? Sorry, I'm not too familiar.

Is this a car or a train?
