And there wasn't a political argument in the thread - nobody voiced an opinion that the Government is right in this or that the closure of the library is a good thing (everybody agrees with Yorkie which is how it should be ).

I agree, Yorkie, and I was just saddened a bit by reading the thread. I hope the boys from Libera who live in Norbury or the surrounding areas are not affected too badly by declining funds.

I have always been a reader and lover of books, and a library would be a tragic resource to lose for any community.

Hi, Paul. I've been thinking about this line you wrote all day today. I know your original post was about the library, but those first few words are really sticking with me.

One of our missionaries to Brazil preached in church today about the church at Antioch in Acts and how they were not selfish with their money (gave an offering to help the persecuted church in Jerusalem - people they'd never met) and were not selfish with their lives (they were culturally diverse but spiritually united in sending out the first missionaries from their church).

Anyway, he said, "Serving God is a form of worship," and I thought of you. Just wanted to say "thank you" for giving your free time to help make the church and your neighborhood a better place. I've never been there, but it doesn't sound like an affluent place. It's not a sin to be poor, but it is a sin to not appreciate or take care of what God gives us. What you are doing may inspire others to take care of and fix up their property as well. Keep it up! You're doing a good work!

Its not my neighborhood, I'm not a local.

Why would I want to help out a church that is a 2 hour journey from where i live?

Partly because it is Libera that was the path to rediscovering my faith that I lost so many years ago.

Partly because the people of Norbury have welcomed me with open arms into there community.

And because I feel so much peace and fulfillment when I attend the Sunday services.

If I could do more for the Church and the people of Norbury I would.

I'm even considering relocating to Norbury. I'm exploring work and housing at the moment.

Wow, Paul. I think that is so nice that you've formed this bond with Norbury and St. Philips.

I live several thousand miles away, but I've always felt a kind of affection for that church and this choir that have put out such beautiful music.
