Japanese CD + DVD (Angel)

Re: Japanese CD + DVD
Hey everyone,
I do not know where else to ask this question but maybe someone can help me. I received an email offer from HMV in Japan to enter some sort of drawing for 2 tickets to some kind of Libera event in Japan because I pre-ordered my CD. If I were to win, are these tickets transferable? I would enter and be happy to give someone the tickets as a gift if I win, but I am not sure what the rules are or whether this is something I should do. It goes mostly without saying that travelling to Japan is out of the question.
Advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

I'd say, enter, and then if you win, hold a drawing of your own for the tickets.Surpinto wrote:Hey everyone,

But are they even transferable? I do not even fully understand what this is exactly. Language is a barrier as wellalcesalcesobservator wrote:I'd say, enter, and then if you win, hold a drawing of your own for the tickets.Surpinto wrote:Hey everyone,

Re: Japanese CD + DVD
Sure, that works - I wasn't thinking of it that way probably because "guardian angel," to me, is one concept. Perhaps now I can stop cringing every time I hear that bit. I still feel that the lyrics in general are not as good as the lyrics of most of Libera's other songs.john45 wrote:Punctuation makes all the difference.chris17 wrote: I feel like parts of the English lyrics were a little bit lacking ..... Try this:"You are my guardian, angel of mine."

Is there a Japanese fan forum you could post on? Or perhaps one of our bilingual members can translate. You could try asking Yuki.Surpinto wrote:But are they even transferable? The English lyrics of "Angel" surely is confusing! For example, Isaac's solo line around 3:20 has very weird grammar:
Can I be your friend indeed, from all cares set free
The clouds would passed away, then I'd be an angel too
Besides little things like this, I think "Angel" has a really nice tune.
Can I be your friend indeed, from all cares set free
The clouds would passed away, then I'd be an angel too
Besides little things like this, I think "Angel" has a really nice tune.
Hark, we hear a distant music and it comes with fuller swell
’tis the glorious song of heaven and our fears it will dispel.

I remember seeing some fans posting photos of those tickets. They appear to be tickets to the meet & greet sessions.Surpinto wrote:Hey everyone,

Re: Japanese CD + DVD
The Angel CD fortunately has the lyrics printed in English and as there is a little confusion I thought I'd type them out for those who don't have them:
Angel take your wings and fly, watching over me
see me through my night time and be my leading light
Angel you have found the way, never fear to tread
You'll be a friend to me, angel spread your wings and fly
Voces angelorum gloria, dona eis pacem
(Glorious voices of angels, grant peace)
For you're always near to me, in my joy and sorrow
For you ever care for me, lifting my spirits to the sky
Where a million angels sing, in amazing harmony
and the words of love they bring to the never ending story
A million voices sing to the wonder of the light
So I hide beneath your wing
You are my guardian, angel of mine
Cantate caeli chorus angelorum
Venite adoramus in aeternum
Psallite saecula et saeculorum
Laudate Deo in gloria
(Sing, heavenly chorus of angels.
Come, let us evermore adore.
Sing forever and ever!
Praise God in His glory)
Can you be my angel now watching over me
comfort and inspire me to see our journey through
Can I be your friend indeed, from all cares set free,
the clouds would pass away, then I'd be an angel too
Voces angelorum gloria, dona eis pacem

For you're always near to me, in my joy and sorrow
For you ever care for me, lifting my spirits to the sky

So I hide beneath your wing
You are my guardian, angel of mine
Angel of mine

Thanks Yorkie.
Here's a stab at the full translation of the latin verse:
Sing, heavenly chorus of angels.
Come, let us evermore adore.
Sing forever and ever!
Praise God in His glory.

I did think the given translation was rather short, but not having studied Latin at my local comprehensive what do I know? I was going to Google it but forgot...john45 wrote:Thanks Yorkie.

Thanks for the compliment, but my parents had very little money. I gained a place at a grammar school on merit.Yorkie wrote: Very close but I think yours has the edge - your parents would be pleased that their money was well spent
Your compatriot, the evil Yorkshire communist, Harold Wilson, though himself a grammar school graduate, did away with most of such admirable institutions in the sixties and seventies.
Re: Japanese CD + DVD
Evil communist indeed. His evil government allowed such foul acts as liberalising laws on, divorce, homosexuality, immigration, and abortion; as well as the abolition of capital punishment. I wonder why saint Thatcher didn't undo all those and bring back grammar schools? The useless Tyke also refused to get involved in the Vietnam war despite huge pressure from the USA. If only he was as brilliant as the sainted Tony Blair eh?john45 wrote:Thanks for the compliment, but my parents had very little money. Re: Japanese CD + DVD
Goodness! No grammar schools in Britain anymore? What do the young waifs do with themselves all day now? Perhaps this explains Little Britain.
Re: Japanese CD + DVD
There are still grammar schools in the UK, just fewer of them these days.TullyBascombe wrote:Goodness! No grammar schools in Britain anymore? What do the young waifs do with themselves all day now? Perhaps this explains Little Britain.
