Brecon Beacons, Wales. Fires burned at the peaks of the Beacons warned the Welsh of the approach of English armies in ancient times; today, the Beacons are part of a chain of similar peaks across the country that are set alight when the nation celebrates a great occasion or event.

Clue:
I maintain a lonely watch over a patch of land men died upon who had never seen it, for a country they were not citizens of, against a nation their own homeland had no dispute with, to liberate a land they had no connexion to.

Now this is going to sound feeble, but I thought of the British Library and the pictures I saw were of a 19th Century building! Nothing like that!

When did this heap of crap come along!
LOL this is its new home: the building was constructed in 1997 and is the largest new public building in the United Kingdom since the 19th century.

You're too good - I was just looking at Normandy war memorials and was at the Pointe du Hoc looking at American ones!

No :( it's just a regular novel--albeit one for kids, if that helps...

When you miss me just look up to the night sky and remember, I'm like a star; sometimes you can't see me, but I'm always there.
