Could be wrong about that though.
Correct. May-July is the best chance of catching Libera perform concerts in the UK, and yes they do go away on a 'Choir Holiday' during the long summer break off school. Sometimes they participate in 'unadvertised' services were they are staying. Although they are getting quite popular now, so cathedral/churches will usually now advertise any involvment by Libera.

Thanks for the credits you are according to me Yorkie  but this is greatly overestimated

If I focus specially on june/jully as asked, and also August, on the 6 last years the concerts were :

2009 : 31/07 : Dublin, NHC
          : 03/08 : Belfast, St Peter Cathedral
          : 11/08 : Edinburgh, St Mary Cathedral

2008 : 30/07 : Torquay, St John Chruch

2007 : 29/06 : Grassington Festival (not very much informations on this event...)
            30/06 : Harrogate, St Wilfrid's Church
            05/08 : Heene, St Botolph's Church

2006 : none during June-August

2005 : none during June-August

2004 : 25/07 : Hampshire festival, Eastleigh.

Concerning May 2010, I now worry that there will no UK concert in May this year (I hope I'm wrong).

The reasons for that thought are :
- nothing yet announced. Last year Arundel 2009 was announced on 13/03. Sure, they can still announce a concert at any time (and I hope so! :) ) but now every new day passing without announce decreases the chances...
- staff currently very busy with April Asian tour. Organising concerts abroad surely take lot of time, and they are going on 3 different countries, with various contact on each place, various venues, various administrative difficulties, and so and so.
So this let very few time to think about and manage the organisation of a concert for 400-500 persons somewhere in UK in May...
- Heavy April tour for the boys! 3 countries, 4 concerts, big jet-lags... Is the staff going to ask them to do a new concert in May in UK ? I doubt... :?

Again I hope l'm wrong but now I think that the next European concert will be on this summer, and not in May....
Your opinion ? :?:

I think you might well be right Patrick - but I think it is the adults who will be too tired - those young lads could probably do concerts in every corner of the globe and (as RP said) still smash the furniture given half a chance.

A shame but I think you are right. It will probably be the late summer before we see them in Europe and possibly a trip to the States in October.

I wonder when they will finalize the details of the Philippine concert? It's already April 1st next Thursday and if they're coming on the week of April 12th, that gives us less than two weeks!

Patience my dears. I'm getting a feeling that they'll announce something really really soon. :) A friend of mine knows someone working in the Brit Embassy and she told me something... the ticket price wouldn't cost more than 1000Php. That's around 21Usd and 15Gbp. :)

@Irishoreo, You're not going to push through the Philippines?

Given that price range, I really think this is just a smaller scale event, which is pretty odd because all signs point to their popularity increasing in the Philippines, and that calls for a bigger event.

That's why I think that they're really just looking for an excuse to visit my country again. 8) I believe some of them actually missed the Philippines.haha

Maybe because they weren't supposed to have a concert here in the first place. They might have a hard time in looking for a venue since it's less than a month before they go here. :)

This is a quite similar fare to an UK Libera concert in a church or Cathedral :)

Maybe the high prices in the autumn tour were due to the venues itself, because of the numerous people involved, halls costs, etc....

Maybe this time the venue will be a Cathedral in Manila ?
This would not requires complex ticketing system, not requires big organisation for the show, and it would be compatible with a very short organisation timing, and low price.

How large is the Cathedral in Manila ? How many people can come in ? :)
Refering to the Celtic tour last year, my friend Fred and myself we were starting queuing at 8:00 AM for a concert at 7:00 PM, to be sure to reach the first row :)
How early People in Manila would start the queue if the venue is really the Cathedral ?

Only because you thought you had to compete against the Jaopanese fans Patrick. You must have been upset in Edinburgh when those of us that turned up at 17.00 were stood next to you

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Manila Cathedral) is fairly large and probably could sit a good sized crowd. The acoustics of the place would be perfect for a concert. (The version of Bayan Ko adapted by Libera was first sung at the Manila Cathedral on Aug 5, 2009.) The problem is that it is situated on the main square of the original walled city of Manila and accessibility may be an issue (even more difficult than the Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cite).

The venue though will not be the Manila Cathedral. With the exception of the wake of Former President Aquino, the archdiocese of Manila generally requires that events intended for the Cathedral be booked months in advance and the three and a half week period between announcement and concert just does not fit that schedule.

(BTW... I am the "Joel" who wrote the email quoted by Yorkie earlier in this thread.)

It's the Filipino hospitality I guess... You know how our culture works. Their itinerary would be sing, sign autographs, be entertained 24/7 and get stuffed full of food...

Anyone that visits family or friends in the Philippines probably won't do the singing and signing but the entertainment and the eating is not negotiable...
