So he must have used non-union musicians, then? Perhaps the same constraints why Libera never publicized this album? I don't really understand how things work in Hollywood.

So, Yorkie, there's this rumor going around that you're never in the same room as Andy. :?

Patrick all of the album of Peace is up on Youtube and has not been taken down, same for other songs that have been uploaded on there. If Libera or EMI was concerned that it was hurting sales then they would take them down. Also lets not forget they also streamed all of the album of Peace a month before we could buy it so the fans could listen to it. They did not put up "15 sec sound bites" .

I can understand both views. It's interesting that BBC has reported that royalties have fallen for the first time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/12863786" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Normally when a musicians music in used in any form or another they earn income from the source. Youtube and other file/music/video sharing websites don't financially reward the artists apart from publicity. It has to be said that Youtube as reached a point were sound quality (128kbps) and Video HD (1980x1280) might leave the user with no intention of downloading and paying for the material when it's readily available right there on Youtube for free.

Copyright holders can ask for the material to be removed, but when you pull out a weed, another one tends to replace it in a few weeks. Even if you do a good job and weed out all the unwelcome stuff right down the roots, they will no doubt start to reappear next spring and not necessarily in the same area.

I'll quote someone from the BBC article "It's so easy to get it for free now, I could never imagine buying music any more"

..but until there is a way of licensing music usage online without a free-for-all. Then you may as well stand at the top of a mountain and shout for 'world peace and an end to all killings' because it's human trait to demonstrate the good, the bad, and the ugly.

And from the comments that you sometimes read on Youtube; the cover of anonymity sure does bring out alot of that ugliness.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the very kind note. There are some friendship and union reasons why I've with held that information. The best musicians are in LA but we can't always use them.

Thanks again Andy; Carpe Dium!

Thanks Yorkie - it was nice of him to answer you. I did a bit of searching but never found an answer, and you've save me bothering to search anymore. Probably a in-house job. They were very good to say they aren't a professionally performing choir.

Naturally they needed top quality stuff for the boy trebles, that's why they chose Libera ;)

That's great that you took the example of Peace :)

Effectively Amazon have let all Peace songs listenable in stream from their site, certainly in accord with EMI. That was their will : free access in stream (for a limited time) :)

.... have you seen somewhere the same will for "The Great Miracle" ?
Are the composer or a seller having putted somewhere the full tracks available for a free stream hearing ?

for my part I have only seen short sample, with icons "buy the track" to hear it full.
Fans going against that will, and sharing commercial stuff of "The Great Miracle" are in illegality, I can't see how this could be denied. :?

I think its a bit of a kick in the face to those who have purchased the track. I for one feel a little bit cheated because I paid for it and others have it for free. At least I can have a clear conscience knowing that I have not stolen royalties, some of which would have been from Libera themselves.

I also brought 2 tracks but i dont begrudge fans trying to get the word out there via youtube. And if there is a problem im sure the video will get taken down.

My experience with You Tube recently is that they've gotten much more efficient at removing copyrighted stuff and keeping it off their website if the owner complains. It used to be very easy to locate a movie and see the whole thing, albeit chopped up into 10 minute sections and rather poor quality video. That's getting to be uncommon now.

Concerning this particular work, I haven't found any mention of it, not even on IMDB. My guess is that they need all the publicity they can get.

Wasn't there some mention of this movie being made in Mexico? If that's true what's the likelihood that unionized artists are being used at all?

Same here. It was a bunch of Libera videos that introduced me and eventually got me hooked to them - one a video of an early version of Sanctus, one of the Going Home version in Leiden, and one of the Concert of Hope - I can't say for 100% but I'm pretty sure the ones I happened to come across were fan videos. Without those, who knows how long it would've taken me to get to know Libera? Because at the time, I had never listened to anything like them. They were completely new and their style of music fell out of the realm of what I was used to - and that was already really broad.

The same applies to the videos of someone like treblechoir99 who introduced me to a heap of great choirs. Without people like him, I would still be pretty much in the dark when it comes to this world of music that is now the most dear to me. I attend choir concerts and buy choir CDs. That may never have happened without Youtube. It may be wrong technically, but it's one of those wrongs that can bring about a lot of good.

I actually also contemplated putting a video for Benedictus Deus together exactly for that purpose - to spread the word, to let everyone know about this hidden Libera secret. I actually hesitated because I felt a reaction in the air that it might not be accurate to do so. Coming on here and reading different viewpoints on this matter has made me cautious. Which is good, I think, it helps me become aware of what I'd be doing. But sometimes I just get confused, and I think - you can have principles, but they're not iron. You have to live with them, use your conscience and let that be your guide.

Once I put a video on my YT channel of treble Andrew Swait and he wrote to me to ask me to take it down. He did not exactly specify why but he was very sincere about it and I obliged. This also comes from being very charmed by him as an artist and therefore willing to please. I wrote to him to explain though that it would be a pity since I had first found out about him via YT and later bought CDs with him on it - it was actually from one of those CDs that I was able to make my own video! :) It was just an accompaniment to a great picture of the sunset in Assisi, Italy. But still, I took it down. I didn't want any fuss about it. He sings on it, he put himself into it, I don't want to interfere with that. So - principles are not iron.

And I agree with dani who said the PR people of Libera could do a better job. If it wasn't for JimmyRiddle we were all probably still unaware of the soundtrack, and those downloads would not have been made.

I'm beginning to think that the beginning solo is that of Ben.

At first i thought this could be an early April fools joke . No offense but but it sounds nothing like Ben's voice . It is Stefan 100% unless he has a twin in the choir .

How can you be 100% sure it's Stefan? Is that info published somewhere?

No its not publised but i know his voice from other tracks he has sung on and its 100% him . It sounds exactly like Stefan and nothing at all like Ben who has a differnt tone and texture to his voice . He does not have that fullness that Stefan has .

Well, to me at least it sounded like Ben of Exsultate & Lacrymosa from Peace and unlike Deep Peace or How Shall I Sing That Majesty from the same album.
