Needless to say, there is no official reason given. Actually nothing at all out of Libera management, which seems to be sop(standard operating procedure).
While it is sad they have left the choir, I wish them well in all of their future endevours.
Too be honest its nice to have it confirmed but we knew this back in July, or we was 99.9% sure, and its a shame that people like Zack left without any of knowing and aknowledging his work with Libera.

It's a little bit sad. Of course
But we have to understand that new generation of Liberians are growing. And they are growing very fast LOL

We have to let older ppl go and to remember them as a part of Libera 4ever

These things tend only to become certified knowledge, when they have been absent from a few Libera concerts/gigs etc... Well at least they managed to get that last tour of Japan/Southern California in the kitty before they departed the 'Libera' as we know it. I think Zack had been in the choir since 2005 as long as Josh, JB, Ed etc.. Better that they have had the experience, than not at all, but it is a little bit sad to see them all leave over the years.

Yes i wonder if that is a problem, the fact there was too many older boys who was on the verge of voice breaking or had broken and that was stopping the younger boys coming though. As has been pointed out there is normally on average 3 boys at the back at concerts and with all them boys going without a doubt its made life easier on Robert.

And this is not finished...
If 2010 goes like 2009 was, the first public concert may be an Asian tour in april.
In april 2010, not less than 7 boys present in the Celtic tour, will be 14 and more, with the risk that their voice has changed, and they were replaced by younger boys....
In april 2010, Tom will be 15 years and 10 months old (15.10) and for sure will be no more present.
Sam : 15.6
Josh : 15.5
Jonathan : 15.3
Ed : 14.5
Liam : 14.4
Mini-Ben : 14.3
(and Jacob ? Alex ? )
Yes, it's hard to think that Mini-Ben will soon be 14.... but He's only 2 months younger than Michael Vereycken, Michael who was not in the Celtic tour...
I hope really really hard that his voice will not change so fast, but who can know...
So I'm expecting that 2010 will be an even more changing year than 2009 has been, with lots of leaving and arrivals, with alternatives songs, and so...
Even the Philippins tour may bring surprises !

I will be shocked if Josh's voice has not broken by then, and at a push sadly personally for me Liam. We also saw in the video from Japan that Tiarans voice looked close to breaking. And when was that video April?

Is it in poor taste to speculate about a possible reason for Zack's departure?

Folks, I think Ben Phillipps voice is breaking now or even already in the USA-tour last month. If you look to the concert program you can see that nearly all of his solos was sung by the other boys and in the videos of the "meet & greets" you really can hear it in his speaking-voice. It's a pitty and probably sad for Ben. But I think he had sufficient beautiful solos, especially that one in "Time" I think

Ben had a fine boy treble & is a very funny personality

Zack said that his voice broke just this last June, and that he has been performing in operas.

Magic Flute? It worked for William Dutton.
