Dani, you may well be right - it might have been just aesthetic, a thoughtless PR person in EMI's design department might have wanted to make it look better. Maybe that is all it was. But changing a picture that was already released to the public to remove one of the most important members of recent years AND who doesn't happen to have any solos on this album?
I just can't accept that is right. In my opinion it is wrong and unacceptable. Whatever the reason, innocent or sinister, it just can't be right when you are dealing with kids.
Yep i am gutted he got no solos but nothing we can do sadly. The picture thing is odd but i think its just been touched up to look better. lol even Joshs hand is now missing, should we protest on behalf of Joshs hand as well?

The picture on the right is obviously photo shopped. Jakob does not look right in the picture.
If I were Ed's parents, I'd be upset about this. It is a slap in the face to Ed and his family. While I have had issues with Ed's sometimes rudeness to fans, I am prepared to defend him on this issue. To remove the dryice fog at their feet or remove Josh's hand to "clean" up the picture is one thing. To completely remove one boy and substitute another is completely wrong. If EMI did this and not just some weirdo playing with their computer, then they made a huge mistake that will cause hurt to one boy and his family. I feel bad for both Ed and his parents. And for Jakob as well.
I saw an interview with Ed once where he said the friendships amoung the members of the choir meant alot to him. This incident could ruin friendships.

I agree with this. In fact, why replace a photo of the kids acting naturally and replace it with a poorly modified picture? As mentioned in the other post, I consider this change very unethical, although EMI had an intent to have everyone's face somewhat looking at the camera, I suppose.

I had to log back in and comment some more on this issue. The more I think about it, the more angry I become. Does someone just want to drive Ed Day right out of the choir? I don't care how high up one may be in EMI, you still have to remember you are dealing with teens and pre teens here. You just can't do things like this without thinking of their feelings. If Ed were to bolt from the choir tomorrow, I'd wouldn't blame him the slightest bit.
If EMI felt they needed a full face of Ed, then take another picture of Ed and photoshop that in.
I remember once, from a few years ago, my Civil War re-enactment unit was being filmed for a documentary and I was in several close up shots. When the show was aired, I was nowhere to be seen. I was hurt and I am an adult. How would a teen feel???

It's a rather bad photoshop, I think. Considering that these are supposed to be stairs that they are sitting on, it seems like there is a hole where Jakob is standing/sitting because we don't see any lower body at all.

it's overall quite tacky and disgraceful! Teens at this age are quite emotional no matter how "mature" they seem. I'm pretty sure Ed was hurt by this, he would probably be hurt even if it wasn't published...but to publish it makes it even more hurtful. I'm seriously hoping, has Tom had mentioned, that it's just some arsehole who photoshopped that and did so to cause a reaction(which we unfortunately gave), I'm hoping that one of us gets this CD soon only to rush onto here and tell us "THEY DIDN'T TAKE ED OUT OF THAT PICTURE, THE OTHER PICTURE IS A HOAX" I'm quite hoping for that so this issue can be settled and squashed forever!
Considering It's only been 6 years since i was 15, I can say that even though i was actually a more mature than usual 15 year olds, I still had irrational, and overemotional feelings, and quite frankly if this happened to me I would be agast at the audacity of it all.

I agree with the comments about the poor choice of switching out Ed's picture. He is a valued member of the group who has contributed for years, and it's not right to just Photoshop in someone else...they should retake the picture if they wanted a different one. That being said, I also feel badly for Jakob because he randomly got joined in the picture, and I am sure he didn't ask for it.
