 Yes, that's what they do 100 % and we always knew it!

Not so much of a problem for me, if I just had those two criteria - choir and venue - in one. :D

Well, without wanting to rub any more salt in Sabine's wounds, yes, I hope to be there next week. :D
Rub it in, Citlec, just rub it in. Gladly go ahead. I don't care. I don't care at all when I read your engaged reviews full of enjoyment, delight and admiration, while I myself am lying in some corner desperately weeping, because I'm missing a beautiful performance; frustrated, neglected, poor and miserable spending all of my time for the research of more of such words.    :P

Oh noooo! You can't sit in a corner all alone, solitary, isolated, forsaken, forlorn, desolate and abandoned like that!

Here, this will make things better:

Well, a great concert at Temple Church. A lovely Purcell and a fantastic Vivaldi. 😀

Also, free interval wine served in the courtyard, and the toilets were in the Inner Temple! And yes I took that photo of the interior of the Inner Temple while standing right next to the large no photos sign...

As a final bonus, as I walked up to Holborn I passed St Clement Danes just at the moment the bells pealed out playing the famous Oranges and Lemons... and by coincidence I'd recently been considering doing a tour of the churches in the song as a fun thing to do.

Pleased to hear you enjoyed it! The rest of us can now resume our jealousy and secret plot to get our revenge on you in Chester or Lincoln.

Pft, plotting revenge? I'm travelling home from Chester by overnight coach... ...so you need only wait.

At approximately 3am, you will hear a terrible bloodcurdling scream of anguish and torment, a cry of such fundamental revulsion, as the eldritch dread and horror of the National Express journey overcomes me, and my anguished soul flees in terror to the nether-realms in desperation, forever to wander, wailing and bereft in lands akin to the worst imaginings of Hieronymus Bosch.

You can sleep on, happy in the knowledge I got my comeuppance. :P

Well after THAT I don't think any of us WANT revenge any longer for your choral luck and access  Maybe a nice cup of tea or pint of beer instead?

Tea or beer sounds much better than dastardly revenge.

But not too much, or I shall have to use the coach loo...! which is its own unique type of horror...

Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention the good news, for any parents of girls who want to sing, that Temple Church Choir will admit their first cohort of girl choristers from September. So I guess the above concert was the last in their 183 year traditional format.

My first prom of the year last night, the magnificent War Requiem by Benjamin Britten. It is currently available as audio from Radio 3 and tonight it will be televised.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/e9h6gw

It is an incredible piece with lyrics from Wilfred Owen's poetry including "Anthem for Doomed Youth". If you haven't heard it before, I'd urge you to give it a go.

Also, it is so heartening to see a venue, as vast as the Royal Albert Hall, packed to the rafters (I know, I was up in the rafters!) for classical music.

Well, having braved the horror of War and survived the terror of Exsanguination, today I restored my humours with an Ode to Joy.

Beethoven's 9th at the Proms. I even dared the arena for a better sound.

What can I say about such sublimity?

I could say, that again, this one will be available not only in audio: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0021y2b

But video too: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0022g49

Look out for me, I wasn't far from the front. :P

A standing ovation and rapturous applause for the performance, which was entirely from memory, not a score in sight!

I'd really rather they didn't. Its not terrible but it isn't exciting either. Not a song I'd look forward to hearing again in concert.

Davul

David Zaqaryan is an 11-year-old Armenian singer who's been making music videos for about 5 years. I really like how the music seems to flow through his entire body as he sings.

Here's his most recent video, a simple production that highlights the expressiveness of his eyes and face. You can find all of his other videos on the same YT channel and follow him on IG at https://www.instagram.com/davulofficial.
