Libera Dreams

Main question is not how many people have you shared to, but what was their reactions towards the songs?

I have shared it to my brother (very into Heavy Metal, Dark Metal and that lot) but he was like "Meh, its alright I suppose. Those voices are f'in high though!"

All kidding aside, Salva Me is one of the best 'hooks' in the discography, imho...

Hahahaha, oh what fun indeed

I shared it one week with a friend and he said it was great... very relaxing.
The next week, I played it again and he asked me to turn it off, he couldn't stand them, they gave him a headache.

I've shared it to many people, mostly immediate and extended family, they all said it was nice but they never really got hooked. I would agree that Salva Me is a great hook for most people, especially the recording from When Will I Be Famous.
anyways, I did get one reaction which was rather amusing:

"Turn that off...Those are BOYS?!?!?!?....No way, there has to be a girl in there somewhere!!!...There isn't??" Then he said something that kinda hurt, but I didn't take it to heart:
"They are freaks. That is just not normal, no boy should ever sing that high, that's just weird."

Thats mean! Oh well, I hope he worded that in a very very, outlandish way.

I've shared the boys with several friends. Only one has really become hooked. Most of the others say " that's nice" and usually that is the end of it.
Oh and the one who called them "devil music" because of the Latin and the phrase "I am the dark soon to be light" from I Am The Day. But then, this woman is already nuts.

You wouldn't happen to be American, would you? Ok that's not really fair (especially since a whole bunch of us around here are American), but for reasons I've put out on my blog and discussed with others, many people around me (and no doubt around some of you as well) start feeling awfully threatened, for some reason, by the thought of teenage-and-younger boys singing...and also over teenage-and-older males in general listening to it...

A cultural condition? Who knows--in the beginning, I took some of that in stride, but any more I get unfortunately very snappish and irate when people start throwing around words like 'weird' and 'freakish' (and not-so-veiled references to sexuality)...it's kids, too, so I don't think it's all that funny in most contexts...

Oh well--what to do, what to do? Hundreds of thousands of people around the world can't be wrong, so...

Haha. My friend just finds me a little weird having this fetish over the Libera boys. I shared some songs with her, mainly from the Free album, and she finds them alright, but a little too religious. Well, some of the songs are slightly to the religious side. I only shared with her and another friend of mine, cos mainly I think they are likely "targets" that might like such genre of songs. This first friend that I mentioned actually have an interest in classical music, since she is a pianist herself, but I think she still kind of prefers Vienna Boys' over Libera.

The second friend I shared with her "You were there" during a break in lecture and she was pretty amazed at Tom's amazing solo. She commented "Wow, are they like boys?" Haha. Oh yea, I also let her listen to Air, and she said that was nice too.

"Louise" is doing ok though still a little out is space with her religious beliefs. She recently told me, during my viral infection/bronchitis that I was in trouble with God because I stayed home from church while I was sick. When I told her that God doesn't keep attendence records, well, she looked at me like I was crazy. HMMM

Well, I know what I enjoy and I truly enjoy Libera, regardless of what others think. Aside from the music teacher in the school where I teach, everyone I have shared with have all responded from luke-warm to not interested in the boys. Unfortunately, the mentality of many of today's so called 'music fans' is, if the music (or movie or TV show, etc) isn't loud and "in your face" then it isn't worth it. (Is this more prevalent with us Americans??) It's almost like quiet and introspection and relaxation are foreign concepts. Pretty sad actually. Oh well, I'll keep listening!

I can't remember how many people I've shared it to. Mostly, I just play it on the background so everyone can hear.haha.

My grandma said it sounds like heaven. I remember she mentioned it while Ave Maria Caccini was playing.

My sister thinks they're really good, but I haven't turned her into a fan yet.

The most interesting one is my brother, who is around the same age as some of the boys now. He used to not like it because it was too slow and soft. The only time he asks me to play Libera songs is when he wants to go to sleep. But after playing Air over and over during bed time, and me spontaneously humming Air sometimes, and after showing him the many Libera videos on YouTube, he really likes them now. He also likes You Were There and Going Home.

I think she need's to read the Bible more. It's not the going to church that makes you/them a Christian, it's something else entirely. Church is simply where you go to fellowship with other believers and to learn more about God/Jesus/The Holy Ghost. It's all laid out in scripture (maybe we should find it and you could point it out to her and back it up by showing it to her in the Bible).
