Feedback needed.

Hi all,
I need your feedback on the following.
Site stability,
Performance,
Missing features.
Also, I do plan on working with the owner of the .com domain to get it transfered.
The .Co.uk domain was only ever intended to be a temporary soloution, if there was problems with the domain transfer.
Many site and blog posts link back to Libera Dreams, if the .com domain was lost, then the links would be broken.
From my tests, all seems well.
I would greatly appreciate your time for feedback, especially from locations outside of Europe, to help me gauge global performance.
Thanks
Paul.

Hi Paul
I'll keep looking but so far I've noticed that the text in my signature isn't rendering correctly - it seems to be adding in characters that weren't in my original.

Thanks Yorkie,
That exactly the type of feedback I need.
Database is in the wrong language, so uses a slightly different character set. A minor issue, so I'll add that to my list of tasks for the weekend.
Well spotted, that man.

New server seems to be responsive and I have no major issues to report, other than the above mentioned display of UTF-8 characters wrongly.
While I understand your desire to maintain the old .com URL, I'd like to additionally add that I really like the short form libera-dreams.co.uk, without the forum. subdomain in front of it. It makes it easier to read. Again, while I understand your desire to maintain the old URLs I would be a voice in favour of staying with the new.

I do agree about the sub domain, that was done by my co maintainer some years ago, much to my annoyance, but I maintained it because of new visitors from links in members personal blogs. That is not an issue these days, as almost all visits are direct or from search engines, also the shorter URL is more search engine friendly.
I certainly intend to preserve the .com domain, but I may have that redirect to the .co.uk domain. Somehow seems more apt to have the forum residing on a .co.uk domain, as Libera are here in the UK.
Many decisions to make in the coming weeks.
My main concern has been the preservation of Libera Dreams, we are 17 years old now, with many thousands of posts.

Yes, I myself have found the server to be very responsive, with page loading times a fraction of what was.
Thanks for your feedback,
Paul.

Feedback from Libera Passion : in the database, there are multiple links to Libera Dreams for reviews and topics. It would all be lost...
That being said, I like the new link as well. So, not sure what should be done.

That has been a concern. But there is a soloution. forum.libera-dreams.com can share the database with libera-dreams.co.uk to preserve past links, and regardless of where things are / have been posted, they will appear at both locations, but that depends on securing the .com domain which I'm currently working with Mark to resolve.

The login cookie doesn't seem to last as long on the new domain.

Hi Paul,
Update looks very good. Here's some feedback:
When posting a link from 'X' (aka Twitter), you still need to change 'X' to 'twitter' to show the message here on the forum. Is it possible to change that?
When clicking on a link it would be great if it was opend in a new a tab.
Thanks

Thanks all,
I'm taking all your feedback on board.
It's only through normal everyday use that these issues will arise, I can only do so much testing.
I have a list to work through this weekend, all of the above will be addressed.
Thanks again,
Paul.

THANK YOU, Paul, for all the work you're doing for us, for the close information and for involving us!
Another example for the character set issue, by which an "Â" is interspersed randomly anywhere into the text. This is what it looks like and reading it feels like stumbling all the time

The piece needs to be heard and seen live to comprehend its different layers. There's the mystic and the bright, the changes just keep you busy. It is basically a calm song, but there's so much going on. The singing, the whispers, this creates a feeling of direct and indirect sounds, an idea of the three-dimensional room. Certainly, this is why I highly enjoy it being performed live, but rarely listen to the album. The entire performance went under my skin. Awesome performance.

Now t5hat I've got my username and password locked into my Avast security memory I'm having no issues, just need to know if the site is going to continue with the new address or revert to the old one. It doesn't matter to me at all which you use, just let us know when you finalize. No need to rush.

My signature now seems to be merged in to my posts but other people's seem OK (although the strange characters are still showing)
Also my security software flashes up a security message warning me the site is unsafe every time I log on.. That didn't happen on the old site.
