Re: Seabird Music Video
I'm curious to see how they handled the soloist part. Is it going to be Luca though his voice changed since the record ? I always feel a bit weird when they pretend this is this teenage dude guy singing, while he used to have a cristal clear voice but now he looks grown up Luca's recent video "My Mama" was a bit like that I still enjoy it a lot of course, but... I wonder, it would be awesome if they took time to record Joseph's voice as well and make a clip with him as a soloist. It would be twice the amount of great audio. But... in my dreams... there is no way this is happening since this is album promo material and Luca is on the album

It'll be Luca and the album track. He did the same thing with his "My Mama" video that he filmed a month after this one and it still looked believable to me. The chorus part sounds great, by the way.Padmachou wrote: ↑1 month ago I'm curious to see how they handled the soloist part. I'm not sure how you would know that. Do you have insider information? It would be very strange for Libera to do that.justin wrote: ↑1 month agoIt'll be Joseph.Luckdragon wrote: ↑1 month agoIt'll be Luca and the album track. Re: Seabird Music Video
There was the case in the "Beyond" album where they seemingly took the recording of Benedictus Deus from the "Hope" album and switched out Tom DL's solo with Leo Barron's voice. However, those were in separate albums unlike what you're suggesting in this situation.fugalharmony wrote: ↑1 month agoI'm not sure how you would know that. Re: Seabird Music Video
Seemingly? That's what multitrack recording is all about . The idea is that you record all the different parts on separate tracks. This has been done a lot in the nonclassical world for decades, in which the instruments of a rock band are recorded separately from the singer. Then the singer goes into the studio, can hear the prior recording of the rest of the band through headphones that he wears, sings along to them, and that is also subsequently recorded. It is also normal to record various instruments, like the drums or the guitar, separately too.fugalharmony wrote: ↑1 month agoThere was the case in the "Beyond" album where they seemingly took the recording of Benedictus Deus from the "Hope" album and switched out Tom DL's solo with Leo Barron's voice. If that same rock band I mentioned wants to make a recording of an old song with a new singer, they can just use the same instrumental tracks that they used for the original recording and have only the singer come into the studio to record a new version.
In Libera’s photos/videos in the studio you can actually see them all wearing headphones. Those headphones are exactly that. They have the music that was recorded prior playing in their ears so that they can sing along, this can also be accompanied by a click track (a metronome) for perhaps the soloist to keep him on correct time. In fact, they use a click track even during live concerts for at least the soloist if not for others.
With that said, if Libera did in fact use the same instrumental recording, as well as the recordings of the choir minus the soloist for “Benedictus Deus” (I'm not sure if they have as I would have to listen more carefully), this would hardly be some kind of bizarre deviation from the norm in the music world. Quite the opposite, it would be entirely ordinary, and even the classical world is more and more using modern recording techniques of the kind I'm describing.
Coming back to the question at hand as to whether Luca or Joseph are singing the solo, I don't see how they would use Joseph on the song unless there is a new studio recording with him as the soloist. As stated above about recording, it would be ridiculously simple to do it from a technical point of view, the question is whether they felt the need, or had the time, for such a project. I guess we'll find out soon, but my bet is that they will use the Luca solo recording for the music video since it corresponds to the studio album they're releasing in which Luca is in fact the recorded soloist. If they were publishing this music video apart from the album release (say in six months from now) then I think the probability of them recording a new soloist would be much higher.
Re: Seabird Music Video
Just for the record, I think Joe will be the soloist on the video, but it will be Luca’s recording. It’s not like the vast majority of people watching will even know the difference.
Re: Seabird Music Video
I can't imagine them doing that. It would be unfair to the actual soloist...
I think it more likely it would be Luca since he is the soloist on the album, but then I find it strange he is not in the middle of the choir in the extracts we got from the video. Really no idea how it is going to be... just curious ! I'd love to get a record of Joseph's voice for sure

That’s not true, because then you could claim it’s unfair that Joe has been singing it in concerts but he didn’t get to record it. Libera is a real team effort.
