When did Katherine Jenkins record "Bring me to Life"? if it was after 2003 she kinda copied off Evanescence
#edit checked and she was only putting a classical spin to it...it sounds really good, i love when songs can cross genres without sounding out of place

Thanks to the trailer for the upcoming Facebook movie (why?? why???) I've just heard about a Belgian girls' choir called Scala & Kolacny Brothers. They don't nearly sound as intricate as Libera, but they do some interesting covers by popular artists like U2, Nirvana, and Radiohead. I enjoyed hearing these songs reinterpreted by a choir! Here are "With or Without You" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from Youtube:

Angelis probably has my favorite version of Pie Jesu by any vocal group.... even the earlier Libera version with Adam.....Rebecca (: wrote:I absoluty love Billy Gilman! I grew up listening to him.. hahasymphonica7 wrote:PCCB- eh.....ok

Vox Angeli is a really good vocal group, wish they stuck more with classical type songs instead of trying to break into mainstream

Vox Angeli is pretty good as well, but I'd have to agree with you there....

Oh yeah, I forgot...they did do a cover of angel...
i dunno what you mean when you say "Trash" to a major choir as experienced as VBC. while i'm not a fan of VBC, i think they are way too far from being a "Trash"symphonica7 wrote:PCCB- eh.....ok

anyway, i come to like the newer lineup of the Choirboys, though they are not as good as the original lineup (their self-titled album is near perfection IMO). Personally, i like their rendition of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas better than Libera's.. but that's just my opinion.
i also like Boys Air Choir, though i've only listened to one album by them (which was The Blue Bird).

I guess "trash" is a little over critical....it's not a knock on the boys or the talent they have at all....I just don't like the direction in which the group is heading....I'll have to refresh myself on some of their new work....but lately its been far from overwhelming.

There are 2 more videos of him - he has the most moving voice I ever heard from a boy, yet nothing seems known of him....
Other favourites are:
the Holland Boys Choir who do an amazing version of Allegri's Miserere (sadly not on YT)
Eamonn O'Dwyer's version of Now that the sun hath veil'd his light by Purcell (also sadly not on YT - maybe I'll fix that someday
)
Choir of New College Oxford - their recent recording of the Monteverdi Vespers sounds really promising: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Daumants Kalnins, a very gentle hobo-like treble voice: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Bejun Mehta, a soaring, flowing, full-on treble voice, today an opera singer: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Ukrainian Boys Choir Dzvinochok - saw them live a couple of weeks ago and was stunned by their powerful sound: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Philippe Jaroussky - a very lyrical countertenor with great dynamic and passion - saw him live three times already now, most recently in Brussels with Andreas Scholl, already mentioned in this thread - together they are the world's most beloved countertenors of this time - here he is singing one of my favourite arias: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And last but not least I just want to root for my hometown and advertise for the Kathedrale Koor Utrecht, a mixed cathedral choir partly from a choir school - they sang in the same concert with Dzvinochok and I hope to enjoy their brilliant, glowing sound once more next weekend in their Christmas concert

I've just read this thread almost right through, and its opend my eyes to how many talented young singers there are out there.
