I do think they will miss the money that Japan gives them each year. Nowhere else do they have such a massive market for them. It must bring in a few chunk of change towards helping them tour.symphonica7 wrote:As long as it's not in Japan or Phillipines......I'd like to have a good seat....and not spend my whole paycheck....haha

And what artist do you know that doesn't utilize Youtube and bloggers to promote their music? You'd be a fool not to......as that is the biggest market any musical act can take advantage of. By the way doesn't matter who you are... CD sales are down all across the board.....ever since Napster......even top Pop artist find it hard to sell CD's! You don't have to ask the parents anything really........I'm sure they push their Liberas just as hard as any other parent that has kid's in the entertainment industry.....
They Love the spotlight....it's a privilege to be a part of Libera....and yes we do love them because they come across as being modest and doing it for the love of music.....but behind the smoking mirrors there's tons of money being made.....which is a whole different story.....(not going there) ........
Except that Libera doesn't really use the bloggers or the concern brought forward wouldn't exist. I've never seen RP or any of the boys be interviewed in the blogs for example. I do believe they rely on the publicity generated even if they are not always satisfied with the content of that publicity however.
I think you come from a musical industry background, so I'd have to concede to you as to the state of the industry, I just go to concerts.
While there may be tons of money being generated, it also costs tons of money to put on the Libera road show. There is no indication that Libera's income is sufficient to support the sort of infrastructure that would be needed to have the members be required to leave school and hit the road full time ala Bieber, Chance et al. and as Dani and I have argued, I don't think there is any intention to attempt to build it to that level. Mrs. G and Eleanor would never stand for it.

Tonight I can honestly say, I'm a little bored, I think its a comedown from last nights spectacular performance, I need another fix of Libera LIVE.
It was great to visit the centre in the square to collect out tickets and to hear the news that sale are going well. I think there will be a great atmosphere at the concert.
It seems that Libera's tour of Canada is going to be a massive success in respect of ticket sales. So far the first two concerts have been a complete sell out, and word is getting around town which I'm sure will result in a sellout tour.
I am so upset about not being able to attend the last concert, but I can't complain. I've been privileged to be able to attend six of the seven, I must publicly thank FDL who can been so kind as to be the driver throughout the tour, also viabuona and Francois who have been great traveling companions.
Islington is tomorrow which I'm having trouble to hold back the excitement. We did plan to visit the church today, but a lengthy journey back from London via Goderich left us no time, which is why we stopped at Kitchener to collect our tickets.

My concert reports have been only a few words, but now after two concerts I'm hoping to write a much longer review of Islington which I hope will be well received by all fans. I would hope for some feedback also on my reviews so that I may write much better, fuller reviews. SO please watch out for my review of Islington and I would appreciate feedback.[/img]

Yet another reason why I like the church concerts.symphonica7 wrote:As long as it's not in Japan or Phillipines......I'd like to have a good seat....and not spend my whole paycheck....haha
With the notable exception of last night, most every church concert I have attended have offered me the opportunity for front row seating, provided I am willing to line up early enough for it.

You've got one thing right.......I do come from the music the industry. And you are also correct that Libera does not see most of the money they generate......but it's a trade off really......to be promoted by EMI...their "promoters" ...to have a source to help your voice be heard...tom413 wrote:symphonica7 wrote: And what artist do you know that doesn't utilize Youtube and bloggers to promote their music? And I do believe the intent is to promote it to that level......every musical act wants to be heard....which is the whole point....to spread the gospel of your music... to take over the world.............the suppport and infrastructure is already there for them to be touring all over the world....which is exactly what they're are doing as we speak...

Thanks so much Paul!! I really look forward to your full review!!!

The discussion was quite interesting. I hope I have understood everything correctly.
By the way: LIBERA is Latin and means free.
which also means the freedom of others to have a different opinion
which also means the freedom to tell other opinions
which means the freedom, without quarrels and disputes to stay fair
The opinion of a person is important. That is why we have this forum.
I use the forum to read the opinions of others and to understand.
I do not use the forum to tear a different opinion
I hope you think that way.

That's good news, it was the one large concert hall venue that worried me with the short notice for tickets. I checked the other day and half the lower floor seating had been taken, so I don't think it will be a sell out.paul30003 wrote:It was great to visit the centre in the square to collect out tickets and to hear the news that sale are going well. You have completely checked that Libera won't be part of the worship services tomorrow at Islington prior to their evening concert?
Yep, that's why we are all heredani wrote:Just want to say , we all have different opinions but
one thing we all agree on is the boys make exceptional music !
But let's be honest......I really don't think Robert would give the other boys a chance to shine just for the sake of being fair.......because then he would have to let all the boys do a solo......Robert's best interest is packaging Libera and presenting them to the world at their best!!! So I see that as the best voices for a particular song at that particular moment will be heard......

I wanted to reply to this point as well, but it got lost in the discussion. While I agree that RP wishes to put out the best possible product, I also think he saw how putting too many eggs in one basket hurt his ability to do that when they hatched!
To me it's not about being fair, it is in his best interest to not rely on any one kid too heavily. As the director and principal composer, he can choose which songs he wishes to develop for public presentation and pick songs that will show off the best qualities of the various soloists selected. He can also choose who will be developed to deliver that perfect performance and who won't.
I think all of the kids have talent or they wouldn't be there at all.
Apart from those who are uninterested in solo work, balancing the work load makes turnover much easier to deal with and helps guarantee consistent excellence.

While I will again accede to symphonica to discuss the business aspects of the music business, I will say that the one DVD we got was due to the sponsorship of American public television and a marketing scheme where a DVD is produced, some concerts are held and the DVD/Concert sales are used to raise donations for the local stations. In addition the taped concert is made available for (re)broadcast during donation campaigns.dani wrote:Heres a tricky question , Libera manage to get sponsers to help them tour so how come nobody is willing to give them money to make a live concert dvd ? , surely there is money to be made in a new live dvd.
I believe Andre Rieu and Michael Junior have been used in these kind of campaigns in the past as well.
