Behind the scenes of the making of the 'Dream' album

Post by fan_de_LoK »

A fascinating 15-minute video! :)
The boys and composers share their thoughts on some of the pieces featured in the album.

A very nicely done video and very enjoyable. Who is here for the 50 year anniversary (I suspect I won't be) :D

I wish they could've included the cow in that music video shoot. She could have made some beautiful moo-sic.

Very interesting and great to hear from many of the composers as well as the boys. It was lovely to have a bit of the Hill's original demo track for Seabird in there. Also Freddie H's efforts at learning the Liszt even if he was actually playing Beethoven in the clip.

I liked the fact that there was quite a bit of focus on the older boys in recording the filming - it's an important reminder that their parts are crucial to the Libera whole.

The video for Dido's lament looks like it's going to be very atmospheric.

Agree - the cow would have been great and it also made me think - I wonder what state those beautiful long white robes were in after filming One Small Voice and The Lark's Last Song?

I really enjoyed this video and it was clearly well thought out. They obviously went to a lot of trouble to digitally edit it as well as they did, transitioning from one discussion to another, and with the composers of the songs no less. Exceptionally done, Libera!

How udderly predictable.

I believe I would still be here unless I succumb to some kind of unexpected accident or illness. But I'm sure that for their 75 year anniversary, I will be listening to any new recordings alongside Robert on a cloud in the sky

Agreed on both counts! And I think the members of Libera understand that though the soloist of a song might be the "face" of a particular song to the audience, the entire choir is integral to the full musical experience. The older boys are no less essential than the younger, despite the fact that they are quite literally in the background on stage and in the music much of the time.

If I'm not mistaken, that "cow" is a bull.

Wouldn't it be dangerous to have a bull loose in an area which is publicly accessible? I couldn't tell for sure if it had an udder or something else.

Looks like a steer or a heifer to me but clearly identifies as a non-binary moose.

You know there actually is such a thing? I took courses on animal behavior back in college.
OK, now to get back on topic. Carry on.

Noticed that the “Bigs” were in this video at various points, including away at the recording studio, and on Libera’s days out to shoot music videos, though they were noticeably not in ‘uniform’.

Gives me hope that they have all made some sort of contribution to the latest album even if they’ve been left out of the music video shoots.

Let's hope not. They'd already had trouble at the church with bats and spiders!

It's really cool that Joseph and Edward drew the bird flipbook for the Seabird video between them. With Joseph and Ben playing prominent roles in the video and Joseph now singing the Seabird solo at concerts - that song really is a family affair. The picture of Joseph and Ben onstage together with Libera was lovely though possibly the two of them might be embarassed and not think so!

Well, it looks to me like they were in the bulls habitat so you take the risk😀 The UK has pretty lax rules on mixing live stock & humans - as a few of us observed on the North Yorkshire Moors ahead of the Lincoln concert. They were only sheep mind, not a massive bull.

It might have been a steer, but appears full-grown; a grown steer is an ox. Photo evidence suggests bull. (And how often do we get to comment on livestock here?) Nice baritone voice, too.

Wow it's a nice video ! It's nice that Libera staff took the time to make such a long one :D It is awesome to get some feedback from the composers, musical team, and the boys. The musical team, with so many former Libera choristers, impresses me. They are amazing and they clearly know where they want to go and giving themselves the means to do it. I can't wait for the future albums, songs, choregraphies...
