Interestingly the two actors who share the Artful Dodger (the principle and the alternative Billy Byers who I saw) are both older (15-17?) and sing with changed voices, which is a departure from most versions. However I think it works here because it makes Oliver seem more vulnerable so you're more emotionally invested in his plight.
People are raving about Lipkin's Fagin but the standout adult for me was Aaron Sidwell as Bill Sykes who was terrifying.
I hadn't seen any show in London before so couldn’t grumble about price increases. The price seemed reasonable to me given the price of everything else these days. I paid £110 for a seat in row 5, which is only twice the price of a seat in row 5 for Westminster Abbey Choir's forthcoming concert which will involve a whole lot fewer Dance Captains and Deputy Heads of Wigs, Hair and Makeup!Yorkie wrote: 2 months ago Out of interest I went to look at the prices for Harry Potter ATCC.
I saw the play in November 2018 and the top price ticket was £140. The same seat today is £260.
Clearly it is greed & price gouging and profiteering. No way have their costs increased by 80% in 6 years. Just like hotels in London massively increased prices to grasp back what they lost during covid, it looks like theatres have done the same. And now they are happy to carry on over charging. Eventually, they will price people out and destroy their business.
General inflation has been 40% since 2018, but services inflation in London would have been a lot more, so I wouldn't assume it's price gouging but I know nothing about the finances of running these shows.
