Adverts

Post by Yorkie »

OK hear me out. What adverts do you think are just great or are remembered in your country as classics? Here in the UK we think we have some pretty clever adverts.

I'll start the ball rolling with a few from Britain and you guys chip in - I want to see what your t.v. ads are like (this will be tough for you folks from the US because as far as I can tell most of you adverts are for haemorrhoids (British spelling, we like adding extra letters), erectile dysfunction or thrush :lol: ).

Here are a few to get you started............

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And, does anybody recognise this tune? In the Leiden video they said that this tune might be familiar. This advert were huge in the UK when I were a lad and I think that this is what they meant....

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

upto date advert for the same make of bread

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

hehe i dont think this advert was shown very much outside of germany but it still gets me every time :)

if you have a weak heart, or are a very jumpy person then i wouldnt watch this advert, or i would have the sound turned off :)

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

P.S i wish my tutor had the sound of when he showed our class this lol
When you miss me just look up to the night sky and remember, I'm like a star; sometimes you can't see me, but I'm always there.

Clever ads here in the US seem to have become extinct. Even the much anticipated ads that run during the Super Bowl game have been disappointing recently.

Yes. Men 'problems' and women 'problems' seem to have overtaken the airwaves over here. :oops:

I used to love those PG tips ads :lol: ... they were always great.

From my childhood all the way through adulthood; we have had a series of really great Guinness ads, like the one below:

I've seen that scary car add before - it always works. Guinness have had a lot of good adds (we got the hurling one over here too). This is one of the best Guinness adds in a recent poll

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some others that I remember

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Once you get going you just can't stop can you (or is it just me)?

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... re=related

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And there are more......

This next one was bad in every way it has become an iconic legend that lives on long after the advert died away (and the chocolate thing is pretty crap too!)

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not for the faint hearted this next one

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... re=related

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... re=related

Fed up yet? Not overwhelming you am I? It's would be fair to say I've seen a bit of t.v. in my time.

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And one more for tonight - you've all seen it but I can't leave it out now can I ?

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Usually during lectures, our lecturers would show us some ads, and I really like those Budweiser ads, and Thai ads are pretty funny too.

Check this:

I can't find the links to any of the Thai ads though, but they are probably on youtube.
