Libera income 2010

Post by dani »

You can now see the out goings and costs and how much they made for the year 2010!!

http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/Sho ... ryNumber=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They made £85,600 in 2010 compared to only £12,500 in 2009. But they managed to spend £131,000  in 2010.

Also made £1300 from Amazon and the commission they get off there. Also they have a long term loan with no interest for £48,750.

So looking at the costs for 2010 then this year had to have been bigger. I honestly wonder how they manage to survive as it just costs soo much.

Wow that is a big difference in spending  Maybe some of this was covered by sponsors, as we know the tours have had sponsoring? Or maybe that part was already subtracted from this figure?

Nope that would of been on there so it must of already been deducted. They took out two loans totaling £48.750 and if they had not done that the U.S tour would of collapsed. Which is very odd as i swear the U.S tour this year almost didn't happen so two years on the trot the U.S tour has been in doubt.

It seems when they go over there its pretty pointless as they just end up pissing money away with out any hope of ever recouping it. Even if they make some " new " fans it will never cover the cost of a quarter of a million dollars. Which is what this years U.S tour cost. I am surprised they continually go over there because they are never going to make it big as they don't appeal to the mass market and never will. So maybe its more for the boys and the experience of going .

If you click on the link that says Accounts (in that yellow table) you get a PDF document with all the numbers specified. Apparently they had touring expenses of £125,065. It's a huge number compared to all their other costs and income. It makes me curious how that number is built up. Was it the sheer amount of touring, was it one tour in particular, was it the travel, the accommodation, was it rent of venues and everything else surrounding that etc?
You see, I have a particular interest in finding this out.. 8)

I can't be completely sure - which is why you have to tread carefully with topics like this because you're only speculating from the outside looking in - but I wouldn't have thought the US tour expenses this year would have amounted to the same outlay as 2010. The visas (the main costs) may have been taken out for 2-3 years, so they would only have had to apply for new members who didn't tour last year.

Have you got a link to the source for that, I can't remember this figure being reported.

The two interest free loans made by anonymous donors must be fairly confident of a return of their generosity, so I would be surprised if Libera continued to make £48k loss every financial year. Thanks for the link; I hope they have a better outcome for this years accounting.

It came via Ben father at one of the U.S concerts this year. He quoted that figure to a few fans when they talked about how much it had cost to get them there and how it almost ddint happen.

ETA ... I am sure somebody also quoted that price for this summers tour on AV.

Also no tour would ever cost the same amount as it could be a longer trip.. longer distances traveled . Different locations, more boys on tour. More expensive renting equipment and so on. Plus they went in hight of summer. And everything is just more expensive including air fair this year.

" that figure could be wrong but thats what i have seen mentioned on AV and im sure on here ( not 100% on the latter)

Unfortunately that's incorrect. In 2010 the US issued them visas only for the time period they were touring in the US. (Not even 1 year.) Many efforts were made with Dept of Homeland Security, US Customs & Immigration, a US senator's office and the State Dept to get a visa waiver, but Libera did have to get all new visas in 2011.

---and what clinched getting the visas in 2011 was the fact that President Clinton was to be a guest at the Starkey Gala.

Didn't Libera make a couple of tours, including the US, in 2009? Were those tours all paid for up front by sponsors?

No wonder they sometimes call for donations!
