Libera Dreams Competition 2013 - 2014 Results!

Post by paul »

Thanks to all members who entered the competition.

Firstly, I must apologize for 3 errors in the concert venues. Google brought up incorrectly tagged images, they looked similar enough to the venue we wanted to show. Unfortunately, it was too late when we finally realized that it was the wrong one.

Congratulations to our 3 top entrys.

As we have joint top place, we will need to have a decider. As there are 3 prizes on offer, the good news is, you are all guaranteed a prize. We will base the the decider on a national televised event to make the draw independent and fair. More information to come very soon.

Congratulations to this year's champions!

My thanks go out to Paul and Yorkie for organizing the test.
I'm relieved that all of the venues I couldn't identify correctly were
not places I've been.

My apologies for the delay.

Right! As we are all in agreement on how to decide the winning order, here is how we are going to play this.

Each winner will choose a number between 1 - 49. This represents the amount of balls in the UK national lottery. When you have chosen your number, please send a PM to me and Yorkie. Once we have your numbers, I will then post the numbers on here for the next Lottery Draw.

The winning order will be based on those who are closest to the drawn bonus ball.

So get your numbers to me and Yorkie as soon as possible, if they are all in before Wednesday, we will have the draw then, if not then Saturday will be the next draw. I will link in so that the draw results can be viewed on the official Camelot site.

Thanks

Paul.

I assume you meant Wednesday 5th, not 4th ;)

Well, now that I can visualize better the procedure I figure that it's not very fair, looks what it gives :
- From balls 1 to 20, the winner would be EternalLight3105, it's 40.8% of chances,
- Ball 21 would be a tie between EternalLight3105 and The Furby, 2% of chances
- From balls 22 to 25, the winner would be The Furby, it's only 8,2% of chances,
- From balls 26 to 49, the winner would be me, it's 49% of chances.

Wouldn't be more fair to allow the same chances to everyone ?
like for example by giving the 16 first balls to EternalLight3105, next 16 to The Furby and next 16 to FdL ?
and if by misfortune the drawn ball is the 49, then use the ball drawn just before ?

It's just a suggestion for equitable distribution of chances for everyone ;)

Now that you mention it, you do have a valid point, but you was in mutual agreement to go ahead with this format and submitted your number. We run it like this last year so I though no problem to do the same again. Your idea does sound fairer, but as all numbers have been submitted, I think this can only be changed by mutual agreement between Yourself, EternalLight3105 and The Furby?

Wish me luck

As far as I'm concerned what is fairest is best, I think fdL made a good suggestion here. Let's see what EternalLight3105 thinks about it?

If fdL and The Furby want to even it out, I would be willing to do so. However, if this does not seem fair to both, I can stick with my original number. :D

Well, it seems that all three of you would be happy to go with Patrick's suggestion of allocating a block of numbers to each of our winners and therefore as you are all upstanding Gentlemen (EternalLight I have no idea whether you are a Lady or a Gentleman (not sure if we have been formally introduced) and thus I'll just make a presumption for the purpose of grammatical elegance) I have no problem in agreeing to the suggestion.

Are you happy with the block of numbers suggested by Patrick or would you like the opportunity to pick your own in which case we could delay until Saturday's draw?

My final suggestion is that the number 47 is the house number (like green '0' in roulette - proper European roulette, not that American travesty that has both '0' and '00') and Paul and i get to keep the prizes if that comes up!!!
If I’ve got owt to say I says it, and if I’ve got owt to ask I asks it.

I suggested the blocks in the same simple numeric order as the number we chose, EternalLight3105 (18), The Furby (24), FdL (27), which gives :
EternalLight3105 : balls 1 to 16
The Furby : balls 17 to 32
FdL : balls 33 to 48

I have spoken with Yorkie and he I happy to proceed with your suggestion. As long as every one is happy, shall we proceed with tonight's draw? I would hope that everyone could confirm they are willing to go ahead tonight.
