Merry Christmas everyone

Quote from the movie Copying Beethoven
"The vibrations on the air are the breath of God speaking to man's soul. Music is the language of God. We musicians are as close to God as man can be. We hear his voice, we read his lips, we give birth to the children of God, who sing his praise. That's what musicians are. "

YAY!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's my quote at the end of my emails!
and it's very true of me!
My life flows on in endless song, Above earth's lamentation. I hear
the real though far-off hymn, That hails a new creation. No storm can
shake my inmost calm, While to that rock I'm clinging, It sounds an
echo in my soul, How can I keep from singing? What though the tempest
round me roars, I know the truth, it liveth, What though the darkness
round me close, Songs in the night it giveth. No storm can shake my
inmost calm, While to that rock I'm clinging, Since love is lord of
heaven and earth, How can I keep from singing? I lift my eyes, the
cloud grows thin; I see the blue above it; And day by day this pathway
smooths, Since first I learned to love it. The peace of Christ makes
fresh my heart, A fountain ever springing; All things are mine since I
am his, How can I keep from singing? Singing? Singing?
(I didn't type that from memory!

I had a hard time trying to change the lyrics from my head.
I had to de-scramble the old St. Philips Boy's Choir song from Angel Voices to the new one.

respect. I really didn't know thatTullyBascombe wrote:"How Can I Keep From Singing" was written during or shortly before the American Civil War by a Baptist preacher from Boston I beleive. I've wondered whether the referrences to "the storm" were meant to refer to the conflict between North and South.

You are entitled to your own opinion and I respect every aspect of that. But... I strongly think that Josh's version of How Can I Keep From Singing was better. O'kane's voice just seemed too shy to come out! Please give both versions another listen. Josh sang it very well, and I'm sure you'll love it.fan_de_LoK wrote:To my part I still prefer the Liam O'Kane version![]()

I agree! I like Josh's version, but it seems short compared to Liam's version. Liam to me always has a wonderful voice and it showed well in this song. Like I said, Josh sang it beautifully too, but I don't understand why they cut his version so short.fan_de_LoK wrote:To my part I still prefer the Liam O'Kane version![]()

I have to say that I really like both Josh and Liam's versions of "How Can I Keep from Singing". They are two of my favorite Libera soloists. I am slightly more partial to Josh's version because that is the one I was exposed to first.
However, I believe that both boys gave an excellent rendition of the song. Josh's version was very soothing and sweet, and Liam's was very clear and innocent. Both Josh and Liam have very unique and different sounding voices, but they both conveyed the same message: one of reassurance and hope.
