Libera - The Remixes (Dec 6, 2024)
So this is quite interesting and was found by someone on social media. It seems that a "secret" remix album is set to be released on December 6!
https://open.spotify.com/prerelease/7tB ... Zo48AB6FZW
Update Edit: Spotify took down the pre-release shortly after I posted this link here and on social media. I take that as a sign that Libera does not want this information out in the universe quite yet and I want to respect their wishes. So I have removed the screenshot I took of the track list.
The only place I was able to locate this album was Spotify. I looked at all of the other usual places, but couldn't find the album anywhere. In fact even in Spotify I had to specifically go to Libera's artist page to see it, the search gave me nothing.
Linked below is the time segment where Liam, during the album promo video gives a hint of this new remix album. He mentions exploring some remixes and then you can clearly see the different parts of COTB on his mixing program. I had assumed he was merely playing around with various music studio software as part of the composition process, and that the COTB mix he was playing around with was for his own edification rather than something to be released to the masses!
In hindsight, it should've been quite obvious that this was a planned remix release! But I guess no one else in the fan community caught onto it either So we can all be stupid, blind, and ignorant together
In all seriousness though, this would not be the first time that a remix was done by Libera although it's been a long time. I'm aware of 2 remixes that were released as such, both on Eternal Sempiterna (The Remix) and Heaven (remix). If there are any others, please refresh my memory, but I can't call any other remixes to mind.
As these were done during Liam's time in the choir (hell, he's on the cover ), it must have left an indelible mark on him and he is now doing the same. I'm really looking forward to this and hoping that it can be purchased as a download rather than just streamed.

Wow, this should be fun! They're really getting mischievous in the studio.

Wasn't Beyond supposed to include "reworks" of some of their popular songs?
I'm not sure what the difference between a remix and a rework is, but I can't really tell the difference if one of the "reworked" Beyond songs comes up in my random shuffle.

A new recording of an old song is one thing and should be fairly self-explanatory as they do this a lot.Luckdragon wrote: ↑1 week ago Wasn't Beyond supposed to include "reworks" of some of their popular songs?

A remix on the other hand is when they take the original song and then add elements to it using software. Typically a remix does not include recording any of the boys or instruments anew and can be done years after the initial recording was made, and none of the singers are in the choir anymore.
For example, check out the recording of "Heaven" from Free. Now listen to the the remix where the voices have been edited using software, and instruments added, to produce a unique sound. Again, no boy did any recording for that song. They simply took the original recording multitrack and played with it like lego pieces – moving one here and another there. The doubling effect you here is just a copy and pasting of the sound wave. Watch the the segment I linked above where Liam plays on the computer and you can see how they do it.
The software is very powerful and can make a remix sound like a genuinely new recording in a studio.

Wait a second, "Heaven" clearly has the voices of Josh and Liam added into it who weren't in the original recording of the song. I still think you can call it a remix, however. Otherwise, you're right about distinguishing a remix and a reworking. I don't think the Sempiterna remix added any new voices.Surpinto wrote: ↑1 week agoA new recording of an old song is one thing and should be fairly self-explanatory as they do this a lot.Luckdragon wrote: ↑1 week ago Wasn't Beyond supposed to include "reworks" of some of their popular songs?

Wasn't the original 'Libera' track remixed in various ways before they released the first Libera album?
In the back of my mind that was when they moved away from Angel Voices name with that EP of remixes.

Thanks Dani - now, if Patrick could upload his copy of the EP to YouTube we could all have a listen (I'm assuming he has collected it at some point, he likes to pick up Libera related collectables when he can).dani wrote: ↑1 week ago

I am restoring the track list screenshot because a Libera staff member has posted his own screen shot on his public social media account story. To me this is permission enough.

They posted previews on the official website now. Most of them sound alright, except for "The Angel Gabriel". That one sounds pretty bizarre.

A bit different but I welcome the creativity and some of them do sound cool.
Yes, maybe next time you can link them here?fugalharmony wrote: ↑1 week ago They posted previews on the official website now. Most of them sound alright, except for "The Angel Gabriel". That one sounds pretty bizarre.
