Re: Libera on YouTube
This is excellent! I just hope they find a way to translate views into revenue (donations, merch sales, CD sales, etc.).
I know that the YouTube algorithm assigns lesser or greater amounts of money depending on the video. In other words, two channels could have an equal number of views on a particular video but one channel makes more revenue per video than another. I can't recall if it depends on the length of the video or on a combination of other factors.
Nevertheless, with streaming services and all that nowadays, artists makes such a small amount off of every view or listen on a platform like YouTube or Spotify regardless, that it's not really all that substantial. Even Libera is probably only making a few thousand in combined income ever year from all streaming platforms - though I'm certainly not privy to what those figures would be.
Which is why it's important for fans like us to buy the CDs and give donations.
With so many bills to pay (including the costs of providing every chorister with a free music education) I hope they figure out how to make that happen. No one likes to talk about money but you can't really do much without it.
I just really want to see them be as financially successful as they are popular on streaming platforms!
As well as having enough to go on big tours like to the US or Continental Europe without having to worry about the expenses.

They need to use social media more. They go months at a time in silence.
We used to get an Easter Tour and a Spring Concert as well which helped keep them in the public eye.

I'm not sure if they want to be on social media more than they already are. As for an Easter tour, I think it just comes down to money. If the funding isn't there, it's probably not worth the risk. Maybe there is a factor not related to money, but I just don't know.dani wrote: 3 months ago They need to use social media more. Yeah true. But all of it comes down to money and time, no? Money does equal time.fugalharmony wrote: 3 months agoI'm not sure if they want to be on social media more than they already are. For example, if they had loads more money they could have even 1 full-time employee (probably the music director) who could in theory either do such social media stuff, or direct it in some way. I think Dani is right that a more regular presence on social media would do them good, and I think they're making strides in that regard over time. Biggest issue is having the time to think up (and then create) new content.
Because as it stands, all of the staff have other full-time jobs that occupy their time, not to mention their families and so forth. Without that time Libera becomes for them just a very time-hungry second job or volunteer work. It's actually amazing that they're able to accomplish as much as they are almost exclusively from unpaid volunteers who are all doing this on a part-time basis.

Seems like all they'd have to do is take a few guys to sing along with Camden's piano once in a while. The guy has millions of followers between IG and TT.Surpinto wrote: 3 months ago Yeah true. But all of it comes down to money and time, no?
