WARNING!!!

Post by tcliffy »

I've just deleted several posts made by some users that involved pornography. I need not state that it was a nasty job and am extremely disgusted  . If I were able, I would delete those users responsible. As it is, I cannot, so I offer this serious warning... If anyone EVER posts anything like that again, I will ask Kevin to delete you and permanently ban you.

First off, I would like to thank you both for keeping an eye on the forum. It is greatly appreciated not just by me but by the other forum members who actually obey the rules and post APPROPRIATE posts. I will take actions as needed and hope no more SPAM posts make it on here.

I ask that should more SPAM be posted to please do not delete it right away and to contact me AT ONCE. I need to get the poster's IP from their post to properly take actions (which could involve authorities).

I have deleted a total of 23 SPAM users, banned 6 IP addresses, and deleted about 10 SPAM posts since yesterday. I am working really hard to try to eliminate any more SPAM user account registration and posts. Give me some time as it is quite difficult to stop something that is virtually impossible to stop. I appreciate all of your help and patience as I deal with this ongoing problem.

There's some more spam on the "Fun Stuff" section from some "one" using the name olderata.

Is there any way you guys could incorporate a "report this post" button option so we could more easily assist you in your efforts to keep the forum clean?

Worse comes to worse you could include one of those fancy "copy the serial number from a picture" features to the registration process. That would keep out the spambots.

Registration requires a valid email address and requires new users to enter a code from the CAPTCHA image which helps with bots. Some SPAM users are actual people who have nothing better to do with their lives. I am working really hard to try to incorporate new security features involving user registration and posts. Hopefully I can have it all integrated before the end of the weekend but you need to be patient with me.

I apologize for all the inappropriate content posted by SPAM bots. I hope any of you were not offended and that you will continue to visit Libera Dreams.

of course we will. We all know it's not your fault. I, as a christian, am offended that people would use a family oriented forum to post their disgusting stuff, but that just comes from living in an immoral world. All we can do is keep fighting it, fighting for what we know is right. We cannot blame you for the filthy minds of others.

Please take into consideration that excessive security measures may make the place less than user friendly.

The day before yesterday I installed a new DVD player in my computer. The security code was 60 ( tiny ) characters long. I wear bifocals, so I struggled with the fine print for nearly an hour before getting it right.

I am planning on integrating only 2 new security measures to the forum: another security question for registering and a SPAM word filter for posts. If I play my cards right, it should help with SPAM. I am trying to integrate it onto the forum but may take a while. I am hoping to have everything installed and working by Monday but please have patience.

For now, all we can do is just fight it. I cannot keep banning IP addresses as many online users have a shared IP address.
