Videos of Libera fans singing

Post by bar »

A bunch of us were trying to figure out whether a set of YouTube videos is a boy or a girl singing. Various arguments have been made, lol.

Anyway, by the end of it I had pretty much posted the entire set, so I figured that I may as well just make it a new thread!

Hooray! :D

Let's post some videos that you can find of fans singing cover versions of Libera songs. I'll go first! This is the YouTube user that carina and I were debating:

So what do you say? Boy or girl? Reeeally hard to tell, but beautiful nonetheless.

OMG. You're right! I can't believe I didn't notice that.

Maybe it is "note" of creation rings.

He sings Time on a lower note. But great job with the cover.

Yeah, I did hear that. I think you're right - if he is a boy, then he seems to be somewhere between his voice breaking and not breaking.

Actually, his voice seems to be in the place where Josh's is right now. I don't think that Josh could have been able to take mini-Ben's solo up to the top note, so I guess it makes sense to lower the entire song.

But again, just speculation. But damn, it is pretty though. LOL, I feel like such a YouTube fangirl now. *Sigh* :D

Exactly what I was thinking, except maybe Josh is more advanced in that department in that he has more control with his deeper voice now. I don't know how high this boy can go to since he sang a lower tune. Maybe he's second treble, I don't really know the technicalities. He can still hit pretty high notes though.

And yes, it's really really pretty and he put so much effort in doing the backing voices as well.

I checked it and I can still see it even though we're not friends on youtube. Maybe you'd want to check it again?

Well, if I was a betting man I'd say our young friend has used my version of the lyrics to sing his song (I listened and it is word perfect to my list - other places have very similar efforts but the closest ones to mine differ by using I'll at places where I have the singular I).

Which is all to say that this lad (for it is a he I'm sure) may well be a member of this very forum 8)

Well, I'm trying to improve my knowledge in this area and Trebles have an average range of C4-A5. Mr Wiki says:

Most trebles have an approximate range from the A below "middle C" (A3) to the F one and a half octaves above "middle C" (F5). This ability may be comparatively rare, but the Anglican church repertory, which many trained trebles sing, frequently demands G5 and even "high A" (A5).[2] Some trebles, however, can extend their voices higher in the modal register to "high C" (C6). The high C is considered the defining note of the soprano voice type.

Which is to say, not all boys can sing as high as others - which makes sense as not all men can sing as low as some can.
If I’ve got owt to say I says it, and if I’ve got owt to ask I asks it.

Bar,
Who is that in your avatar? He reminds me of the actor who plays the angel, Castiel, in Supernatural.

Good catch! It is Castiel from Supernatural. This was the episode where Castiel leaves his vessel, and Jimmy Novak's consciousness returns.
