Semele (Fan Cover)

Post by chase1996 »

hi all,

i've just finished a fan cover of semele. it was originally sung by ben crawley, i believe.

as per usual, constructive criticism appreciated. as are cookies. whichever floats your boat!

this is an older recording i made a few months back. i've been sitting on it awhile. unfortunately i feel my voice starting to change, but my mum tells me that my dad's voice didn't change until he was almost 16...so you never know! :D

This is the first time I've ever heard this song.....audio is awesome, instrumental is nice, voice is amazing!! Especially on that last little bit...I'll bet this is better than the original.

Nice job Chase on one of my fav songs from Luminosa 8)!! This is the first time I have heard one of your covers and I will have to hear your others now. You have a really nice voice and I agree with Lexi, nice vibrato; I almost thought it was Big Ben himself singing it  .

PHENOMENAL. That's it. Damn shame you're not in the London area if you ask me. You would've made a great soloist...your voice has a very similar flavour as Ben Crawley/Michael Horncastle.

Very nice natural technique as well. Do you have perfect pitch? I wouldn't be surprised if you did. Pitches were spot on.

Hands down the best Libera fan cover maker out there. Keep it up! :D

Hi Chase.

First off all: I love the 'velvet' quality of your singing voice. It's very gentle, tender and sensitive. That's what makes it a pleasure to listen to you singing. I also love the way you harmoize with yourself. It's so pure and gentle; it reminds me of small green leaves in the rain.

The one point of criticism I have is that you sometimes seem to lack security or strength in your voice. It's very delicate but not always as 'full' or 'complete' as I think it could be. What I admire in a soloist is their ability to make their singing sound almost effortless, and I sometimes hear an effort in your voice where the music is written to shine. I mean, you get there, but I can also sometimes hear you getting there - if that makes any sense...

You're a way better singer than me, I am average at best and have little experience so whatever you put out there I will look upon with admiration and pleasure. But since you ask for constructive criticism I figured I should give you mine. (the irony being that I am also eating cookies at present - sorry :)).

I think that you can easily become more confident etc. in your singing with training. More in control of your voice. Because you have been given a very beautiful instrument and you can learn to use it better and better. Which is what I'm looking forward to hear! :)

Hi maartendas, thank you so much for the advice. Will try to remember and use it wisely when making my next fan cover. I have never had a tutor or voice training, so any advice is definitely brilliant!

Working on Love and Mercy at the moment. Will keep you posted. Thanks again!

Hi Chase! First of all, you have a beautiful voice. Your voice sounds very gentle.
Unfortunately boys voices change, but your mum could be right. I, myself, have sung the boy solo in the Lord of the Rings Symphony in Antwerp (2005) and I was a month from going on 17.
As I must say, from that moment my voice changed very quickly but now i'm counter-tenor.
As long if you don't feel that you "overload" your voice, you can sing soprano parts!

Keep up the good work! :)
