Maybe it depends on personal preference? I believe Joe Platt was listed as "Joe" instead of Joseph when credited with a solo? Unless his full name was Joe. Or what about Alex Leggett? And Ben Crawley?carina_gino20 wrote:Because he's a legend.music4 wrote: Ave Virgo

Yeah, its probably personal preference. The boys probably decide what they are listed as in the credits. ie. Alex is listed as "Alex Leggett" not Alexander Leggett, but Sam is listed as "Samuel Leggett." Josh, Mini-Ben, Sammy and Ed all have their full names listed, but Alfie and Freddie don't. Is "Ralph" usually short for something? Its not a very popular name over here, so I wasn't sure.plumpuff6 wrote:Maybe it depends on personal preference? I think this new album is one of the few Libera albums that features more second/third treble or alto solos: Josh in "Time" and "Faithful Heart" and Ralph on "The Fountain". The only other solo I can think of in that register is Joseph Sanders-Wilde on "Recordare". Any others?
I am not 100% sure, but I think that Ralph is a given name, and not short for anything. My grandfather is named Ralph...libera36 wrote:Yeah, its probably personal preference. He's never been credited as anything but Tom Cully so I guest that the way uh-huh uh-huh he likes it.carina_gino20 wrote:Because he's a legend.music4 wrote: Ave Virgo

Definitely a possibility. Maybe Daniel, though? He has a pretty good range on "Panis Angelicus".lacrymosa2 wrote:After hearing Stefan sing "Deep Peace" and hearing reports of him singing the solo in "Sancte" in the Philippines, I feel that he might be singing the solo for "Libera" in their upcoming concerts.
What do you folks think?
Maybe Daniel too. His voice reminded me of Liam's somewhat, although they are both December 1995 birthdays. I think this year's performances from them are going to be really interesting, along with a new setlist I presume. I wish I could go to Japan to watch them and to meet my relatives and my former intern colleagues, but school is my number one priority.libera36 wrote:Definitely a possibility. Maybe Daniel, though? I think that hearing Stefan on "Libera" is definitely a possibility. He has a full, strong voice, and soaring range, so it seems like he'd do well with that solo.lacrymosa2 wrote:After hearing Stefan sing "Deep Peace" and hearing reports of him singing the solo in "Sancte" in the Philippines, I feel that he might be singing the solo for "Libera" in their upcoming concerts.

I also noticed it. Though I think it was that much, except that it was a bit airy. IMHO, I think this was recorded after Tom's voice broke. My father was part of a boy's choir before and he told me that it's possible for a teenager to maintain his treble voice even after the change of normal speaking voice with a lot of practice. The quality and timbre might change a bit but one can still high notes.bar wrote:I was listening to Ave Virgo again this morning, and I've noticed how different Tom's timbre is as compared to previous recordings.
Did anyone else notice this?
Maybe it's just because his entire opening solo was supposed to be sung quietly? At any rate, it felt like that range was becoming falsetto for him in contrast to it being much stronger previously. It had a much lighter quality to it than we've come to expect from Tom Cully the Great.

If we consider how high his vocal range as a treble, it would be fair to assume that the loss of half an octave would still allow him to hit fairly high notes. He's no longer going to hit those C6s and above that he loved but he could still probably sing comfortably in the F5 range.irishoreo wrote:chix wrote:I also noticed it. I quite agree with that....

I believe they both have lower speaking voices as Tom does, but they trained really really really hard to keep their voices and become countertenors...
