The Olympic Torch is touring the Channel Islands today - it's just been to Guernsey and will land at St Helier Jersey in the next few minutes ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchrelay/day58 You can rewind the video to any specific point if you miss it.

Yes nice route tomorrow, chichester is included too, and then ends up in Brighton - will catch the Arundel leg on replay after workfan_de_LoK wrote:and tomorrow they will be in Arundel

The nearest the torch comes to Libera's norbury residence is about 1 mile away approx midday on 23rd July at the Junction between Brigstock Road & London Road.

I suppose Kavana will not be at the Summer tour. His voice has now changed dramatically Listen to this:

Yes, the video is discussed already in the Members section.Horticult2000 wrote:I suppose Kavana will not be at the Summer tour. His voice has now changed dramatically Listen to this:

A lower voice does not automatically indicate absence from the choir. First of all, his speaking voice was already low last Summer but that did not stop him from hitting some really high notes live (didn't he duet with Ralph on The Fountain in last year's concerts?). Also, even if he can't go so high anymore (and that's still IF) he could still fill the back row. I can't see Kavana leaving the choir just like that, not because of voice change anyway. I think he likes it far too much and he's a great spokesperson for Libera as well. If he's absent I would guess it's more likely because of other engagements.
But I like this guessing as much as the next person

Yes, think about Josh's 'Veni, veni Emanuel' at St George's last yearmaartendas wrote:Yes, the video is discussed already in the Members section.Horticult2000 wrote:I suppose Kavana will not be at the Summer tour. His voice has now changed dramatically Listen to this:

I am sure that there will (a) be several new boys on stage for their first concerts and (b) boys being boys there are others whom we have not been focussing on who have grown now and moved up the ranks, just like others have done, for example Ben Philipp, who knows, he may well be along in the back row this time around given that his Dad spends a lot of time on the Islands anyway...
I can imagine that the boys will be rehearsing like mad most days at St Phillip's as we await the forthcoming concerts. What would be absolutely great to see is a new album on sale at these concerts, but whether that will happen remains to be seen!

I think there is more chance that I will be declared King of the Channel Islands than a new album being available to buy at these concertsHarryJamesSnr wrote:I can imagine that the boys will be rehearsing like mad most days at St Phillip's as we await the forthcoming concerts. I am expecting a newer Libera for Jersey as on home soil we always get new boys. And we saw at Arundel that there could be 5/6 new boys waiting to join the ranks.
We know Stefan's voice has changed , Ralph's was on the brink at Arundel so we are bound to see exciting changes happening within the group and that should hopefully be reflected in Jersey!

Re: Summer 2012 Concerts - Jersey and Guernsey
Glad to confirm that I will be attending Libera's first concert on Guernsey, though I will be around for all other concerts during this Tour as well. I have a number of relations on both islands whom I hope to see during my stay there! It is likely that I shall be visiting various attractions on both islands whilst there, so the chances are that I will quite literally bump into the Libera members and their families at some of these.
Who else is going, and to which concerts? (Though I know some of you will most likely be going to all four events!).

...for those of you who will be in Jersey next Sunday....

Let's hope those 'whats-on' entertainment leaflets are widely distributed to visiting holiday makers because as this rate, the Opera House could challenge St Wilfrid's Harrogate for Libera's lowest concert turnout. Really hoping for a late surge of ticket buying.

On Sunday 29 July the all-boys choir “Libera†will be singing at the 9.30am Mass at St Thomas’. The chart topping boy’s choral group from London is appearing at the Jersey Opera House on 1 and 2 August where they will present a fully staged performance.

Gosh, so that means they are arriving a few days before the concerts! This is unusual for somewhere that is so relatively close to their home base!

To be fair anybody flying will want to get out of the country before the Olympics as it will be a nightmare. So it makes sense to fly earlier than normal.

This, I fear, is typical of the current Libera management strategy of not announcing things early enough and not keeping their website up to date either. If I were them I'd have this church appearance up on their site and across the various social media platforms before anyone else, but it is usually the other way around with them these days!JimmyRiddle wrote: Let's hope those 'whats-on' entertainment leaflets are widely distributed to visiting holiday makers because as this rate, the Opera House could challenge St Wilfrid's Harrogate for Libera's lowest concert turnout. It will be interesting, however, to see what sort of effect that an obvious group of boys going around the Islands (as they are obviously planning to do now) on the days around the events, will have on locals and tourists alike. The Libera management team will (and possibly quite correctly) try to mollycoddle the boys and keep them away from the public glare, but on this particular occasion I'm not so sure that would be the best policy. The boys themselves could quite literally promote themselves as Libera by talking openly about the concerts when they are touring around the various attractions that they will surely be visiting on the Islands. And on this particular occasion I would think that under the watchful eyes of the parents/quardians that will surely be with them at all times, they should not be afraid to say hello to, shake hands with, or to sign things when they do bump into one of us fans, or new fans that they may make whilst there. They do have a golden opportunity to self-promote themselves as Libera on these islands, more so than in other tour locations, because there will be lots of tourists around that will genuinely not have heard of them....
One never knows, perhaps they will give impromptu performances a cappella style when at certain attractions this time around! Every single little bit of publicity helps, and this time around as Jimmy has pointed out, they are going to need it!
But I also fear that if the usual invisible brick wall appears between the boys and fans when they are out and about this time around, that will have the opposite effect of what I am suggesting above, in terms of promoting the gigs.
The good thing is that both venues will sell tickets right up to the start of each concert, so there would be no problem from that point of view so long as enough people find out about the gigs in time. But I have to say that I am surprised they are doing two concerts on each island, wouldn't have thought they would have expected to sell them both out under their usual promotion efforts....
